I was going to write about my favorite Coral Beach hotel. I was there twice in 2007: in March and December. And it should be noted that there is a difference. Everything is changing, which is understandable. And so I have a hope that something will change and people will come in and look at reviews about the hotel before agreeing to a ticket. And they will decide, so as not to express their dissatisfaction later. I want to emphasize that this hotel is not for the nouveau riche who are accustomed to luxury, not for those who like to drink and buzz. This hotel is for a relaxing holiday, for those who love privacy and the sea: diving and just snorkeling. Therefore, lovers of getting drunk and making noise are not here (they are very bored here).
Regular customers come to this hotel: people of the age and average income, diving enthusiasts. Very nice people. Youth is, but almost all of the pool at the bar. Some only find out at the end of their vacation that there are places for diving. Enough foreigners. What I like about this hotel is its huge beaches. Of course, we thought a second time to go to another hotel (well, for fun), but again we stopped at this one because of the beaches (read the reviews, people complain that it is not possible to go into the sea). And they didn't fail. There is a beach for swimming with sand. There is also a nude beach. There is also a beach for divers with corals and a lot of fish (including under the pier). It is very fortunate that there are corals nearby and a novice diver or a child may not be afraid of the depth. Further corals are more, but, of course, not wild thickets. The main thing is that there are enough fish there - there is something to see. In the spring there were jellyfish - not very nice (a little sorry). But the eagle on the pier had chicks that were already on the wing. And in December, he only forked a nest (it is interesting to observe). In December, for some reason, fish similar to mackerel (long-nosed and swim in a flock) spawned. They jumped out so well. The stingrays were on the beach only in spring, and in winter they went to the depths. In winter there were also turtles. We found a young Napoleon fish under the pier. They only found out because they were on an excursion (from a guide) on a boat with a transparent bottom and saw them there. We were taken to Paradise Island: there are coral gardens, a lot of fish (including huge Napoleons) and dolphins! They also saw flying fish: they did not immediately guess that it jumps out and flies for a long time. The photo could not be taken. I recommend taking this tour with a guide. Those who borrowed from a local guy complained: he rode a boat near the hotel with windows on the bottom (very shabby, visibility is terrible). And it seems that some (lucky ones) are even more expensive than us.
What else? When settling, they didn’t give bucks and lived both times in 4, which is far from the center. But, it suited us - it was more convenient to walk to the pier and be alone. And in general, after their hearty dinners, it is better to walk around. It seemed to me that in December the food was more interesting: lasagna, crabs, barbecue, sweet potatoes (a miracle casserole! ), Soft cheese (like feta) and pureed soups I liked. Salads, pastries are incomparable. There are fruits too - melon salad with oranges is super! A fresh melon - 2 bucks it costs! I'm glad I tried. As for alcohol, we liked gin, the rest didn't…. Well, it’s not worth talking about drinks like “Jupi” - this is not juice. Better water. It is interesting that in March they did not give it to us. Only for pouring into glasses. And with you on excursions in dry rations. And in December they already put it in the refrigerator and we had 5 bottles of it, but they didn’t give it in rations. Therefore, it is better to clarify before the tour what is included in the dry ration. And do not forget the pillows (they are in the room in the closet, like the safe!!! ). Pillows help a lot when traveling on the bus.
We were on 2 excursions in March: Cairo and the Pyramids and Luxor. I want to say right away that it seemed to me that the trip to Luxor was harder. I'll explain why. We rushed to Cairo at night, we were gathered in a convoy and taken. Everyone had a quick look there: the Salladin Fortress, the city, the Cairo Museum (very interesting and breaks all school and college impressions). It’s a pity that the cameras are taken away at the entrance (then they are given away, of course) and I really regret that I didn’t manage to buy postcards at the entrance to the museum (it’s not conveniently located). It's good that we were in the museum in the spring - we saw Tutankhamen's gold, and in December he was taken away on a "tour". And the treasures from his tomb are worth a look, this is not a jeweler - the ancients had a stunned fantasy. By the way, Tutankhamun himself is in the Valley of the Kings (excursion to Luxor), but they don’t take him, there are more interesting tombs. Pyramids - yes (if you're lucky you can see from the window of the plane). But, the merchants are so annoying with pestering (“for a gift for 1 pound”) and there are so many of them per 1 sq. m. that you are only busy fighting them off. Not nice. I had a direct fight with one, ran after us, then didn’t want to give change, in short, we didn’t buy anything from him, but we exhausted each other’s nerves. So, now I understand why many cannot tell how they visited the Pyramids. We were also fed in a restaurant on the Nile (drinks for a fee). We bought a papyrus (like a real one) in a shop (everyone was driven). A very interesting fragrance salon near the Sphinx, but a set for 60 bucks was a little expensive for us. The overall impression of the tour is good. Although we returned around 22-00, we were fed in the restaurant (do not forget the tip).
As for the trip to Luxor, although it is closer, we traveled so long and tediously that I do not advise children to go. It's hard and boring. The toilet on the bus was closed (but they didn’t close it when they went to Cairo) and everyone went, in the parking lot (for a fee, of course, but clean) - there were queues... The Luxor and Karnak temples are magnificent! But, in March it was so hot and sunny that the camera did not want to shoot - it overheated. The waters drank the sea. Burnt (caps required). They crossed the Nile in boats - it is wider there than in Cairo. I warn the ladies that at the exit from the boats, the boys grab their hands (like helping them get off) and extort baksheesh. I don’t feel sorry for the pound, but they grab it with dirty hands (and not always by the hands, be prepared). On the trip again visits to the shops: stone, papyrus. I ordered cartouches with names (I still wear them with pleasure - the silver is good). Bought a carcade. I must say right away that it is better than the one in the shops in Hurghada (we bought for comparison). The tombs of the kings are magnificent. You can't shoot there. Bought postcards. By the way, experienced people say, and even postcards show that the Valley of the Queens is more interesting than the Valley of the Kings. But, you have to ask to be taken there (and you will not have a desire in such heat, that's for sure). Enough to see the temple of Queen Hatshepsut. All its beauty is visible from space. Don't believe? Check. Everything is very cool. And next to her tomb, the tombs of dignitaries, including her lover, the architect. So we bought slippers and some other equipment in Hurghada. By the way, suitcases are also cheaper there (an aunt for a large suitcase bargained for 160 UAH. The rate is like 100 bucks - 505 UAH. ). Cotton windbreakers with the signature Diving Club logo are cheaper not at the hotel, but in Hurghada and in some shops of the airport. You can buy cool T-shirts, but towels, although cheaper, we have everything here (we have already broken off like that). On the first visit to the pavilion (which was just assembled in December) two uncles sang wonderfully in English. But what I advise is to steal buns from a restaurant for fish, then you can take them off the pier (just don’t advertise feeding, they are not allowed to feed them).
