We rested at Carabela Beach Resort in September 2007. We had a great rest! The country is great! Everyone is smiling, dancing, enjoying life! We were lucky with the weather. It was warm and sunny! A couple of times I tried to drizzle rain, but after 15 minutes the sun was shining! The host was the Fourthtour company. Well received, excellent guides. Our hotel was the first from the airport.
Hotel
There are many buildings on the territory of the hotel (I think 11). We were placed in building 5, the closest to the beach. Numbers on a solid four. Nothing overly amazing. And there is nothing to do in the rooms when such beauty is outside! The balcony overlooked the palm garden, neatly trimmed lawns, flower beds. . Peacocks walk around the territory, sometimes looking into the dining room for breakfast to beg food from tourists : ) By the way, very successfully! The food was very tasty and varied! For breakfast, there were always freshly squeezed juices - banana, papaya, mango, watermelon, pineapple and others. As usual, muesli, eggs, sausages, cuts . . The cook made an omelet with the ingredients of your choice. Lunch and dinner are amazing: chicken, pork, beef, fish, pasta, seafood, fruits, sweets, ice cream, etc. In general, food for every taste!

If you are bored, there are 2 restaurants on site - Italian and Mexican (which are also included in the "all inclusive"). You just need to sign up in the morning (from 7.00 to 10.00) in these restaurants to have dinner in them. Drinks everywhere in unlimited quantities (both non-alcoholic and alcoholic). We tried every cocktail on the menu. Everywhere they are mixed in different ways. It all depends on the bartender. They don't make majitos very well, they don't put mint. The best ones are banana-mama, Coco-loco, pina-colada, mariachi, margarita, and of course rum and cola! There are 3 pools, but only the Germans swam in them. What Russian would climb into a pool of bleach when there is a beautiful warm ocean nearby? ! The beach is an absolute delight! White sand, palm trees mixed with pine trees! There are few people. No one is stopping you from relaxing! We took a kayak, fins with a mask (non-motorized sports included). The ocean is awesome! The water is clean and warm! Every day we were entertained by animators!
In the mornings, yoga classes were organized on the beach, they were taught to dance salsa, merengue, bachata, they played beach football, volleyball, badminton, darts and other games, they did aqua aerobics and just aerobics. But all this was not intrusive. If you don't want to participate in anything, they won't force you. In the evenings, wonderful evening shows, and in front of them are the awarding of the winners in various beach competitions. They give you a certificate and a bottle of rum! So if you actively participate, you won't have to spend money on rum to bring it home : ) The hotel also has a gym and mini golf ("all inclusive"). In general, do not get bored. There is almost no Russian in the hotel! But if there is a need for Russian speech, then Transaero crews constantly rest in the hotel. So if there is a problem with languages, then you can contact them to help translate. Less than 1% of Russians rest in the Dominican Republic, so there is no need to rely on the knowledge of Russian by local residents. The reception speaks Spanish and English.
The locals know almost no other languages besides Spanish. But there were no problems with communication! You can always explain yourself with signs and gestures : ))) Dominicans are always in a good mood, they smile and infect with their positive energy!
Excursions
We went on four excursions.
1. "Macao Dream" or quad biking ($55 per person if you take a double quad, and $80 if you take a single). Excursion for half a day. The program includes a visit to an underground lake with swimming, a souvenir shop, as well as a wild Macau beach, where you can sunbathe and swim! It was a lot of fun to race at a speed of 50 km / h along the track, and around the endless orange fields and palm groves! When driving off-road, it was a little dusty, so I advise you to take glasses and a bandana with you so that the dust does not fly in your face. And don't wear white clothes : ) In general, an excursion for 5!

2. "Santo Domingo" ($90 per person). Full day excursion to the capital of the Dominican Republic. On the way, they told the history of the island very interestingly. The first stop was in underground caves with lakes "Three Eyes", then we went to the palace of the son of Columbus and the first Catholic Cathedral of America. The city itself is nothing special, but there we stocked up on rum, cigars and coffee! So, if in Santo Domingo coffee cost $2, then in duty free it cost $8, Barcelo Imperial rum (the best one) cost $20, and in duty free - $56!!!
3. Saona Island ($95 per person) The program includes a trip on a catamaran to the Caribbean Sea, then swimming on a very beautiful beach (the pictures turned out like postcards!! ! Unusual beauty), then a visit to the starfish lagoon, where we successfully found a starfish : ) Then they brought us to the next section in the sea, gave masks and tubes and we looked at the most beautiful seabed with a lot of living creatures: fish, corals, hedgehogs, sea snakes (not poisonous : ))) The tour is very fun and exciting! I have never seen such views!
4. "Samana Safari" ($195 per person. But it was worth it! ). This is an excursion of five modes of transport (by bus, by speedboat, by jeep truck, by horseback and. . on foot : ). Everything is just sooo beautiful! Didn't even know where to look! Eyes ran from the beauty around! The Dominican Republic is a very green country with amazing nature! On a speedboat we passed mangroves, made a stop in a small bay, where we filmed the last hero. Check out the Caves of the Sand. But the most interesting thing about this excursion is horseback riding in the mountains! I do not recommend with children, because. horses go up and down the mountains, on stones with clay, cross the river to ford, and the girls (including me) were a little scared that the horse might slip and drop the rider on the stones, although each horse had a local guide, so nothing bad happened to anyone! The final goal of the horse ride is the Lemon waterfall. The excursion is unforgettable! I recommend to everyone! Unless of course you are not afraid of horses : )
Adviсe
Be sure to take sunscreen at least 30! It is very easy to burn out, even if the sky is cloudy!
Money can not be changed, because. dollars are accepted everywhere. The exchange rate at the time of our trip was approximately $1=31 Dominican pesos.

Trade everywhere! Prices can be discounted up to 4 times! So, the painting was offered to us for $60, and we bought it for $20. But rum, cigars and coffee are usually fixed prices.
The voltage in the rooms is 110V. So you need an adapter. We did not have to buy it, because. TV was turned on through it. But not everyone was charged. Our cell phones and camera were charging normally. Someone did not charge and they gave it to the reception along with the adapter to charge. This is a common practice for them, so if at the reception they see a person with an adapter and a mobile phone, they charge it without question.
There was absolutely no theft in our hotel! On the beach we calmly threw money and cameras on the sunbed and went for a swim! By the way, there are a lot of security guards on the territory of the hotel. They constantly patrol the territory and check that nothing disturbs the peace of vacationers!
In the Dominican duty free, the prices are simply extortionate! So I advise you to buy in Santo Domingo, as a last resort in a supermarket on site, otherwise you will overpay 4 times!
Everywhere it is written that there is a fee for overweight baggage of more than 20 kg, but in reality you can take out as much as you like, without any additional duties. The main thing is to stuff the rum and shells into the suitcase, because. You can't carry them in hand luggage!
The Dominican Republic is a paradise, which is now forever in my heart! I wish you all a pleasant holiday!
