We liked the hotel when we went on vacation, we already knew that the ocean would be dirty from algae, so we initially booked a room with a pool. It is very convenient when you have your own pool, you can swim in it at any time of the day, both at night and in the early morning (when the common pools are still closed). In the Dominican Republic, summer is all year round, so the water in the pool is always warm.
The room has a bathrobe, slippers, a coffee maker, tea, coffee, and even a steam generator instead of an iron. In the bar of the room - water, cola, fanta, sprite, which are replenished every day. I want to draw your attention to the fact that the sockets in the room are of the American type, that is, you need an adapter, I recommend purchasing it in your city, since the price for it in the hotel store is cosmic.
The food in the main restaurant was delicious. There were meat, fish, vegetables, seafood (mussels, shrimp, salmon, tuna), fruits (watermelon, pineapple, passion fruit, bananas, papaya, mango, apples, pears, kiwi). Always pasta, pizza, burgers. For breakfast, we ate porridge, scrambled eggs or scrambled eggs, cereal, sandwiches, pancakes, pancakes, donuts, etc.

Near the common pools there are bars that offer free soft and alcoholic drinks and cocktails (mojito, pino colada, martini with juice, rum and cola, etc. ).
There are a lot of sun loungers near the pools and enough for everyone, perhaps because there are few people in the hotel.
There are also a lot of sun loungers on the beach, which are mostly empty, because few people swim in the ocean due to the presence of algae, of course the hotel staff fight with them, clean them every day, there are even traps to trap algae, but it helps little. You can go to the beach of the Catalonia Hotel, it is located on the right side, probably a 10-15 minute walk along the beach, the beach is cleaner there, although there are a lot of people there.
The hotel guide told us that there are no shops outside the hotel and it is dangerous to go outside the hotel, and so - this is not true !! ! If you leave the hotel through the gate and go to the right along the road, then after 10-15 minutes you will see a lot of shops, including the “Russian shop of Ilya”, and a small market with clothes and fruits. The prices there are much lower than in the souvenir shops offered by the hotel guide. By the way, if you take goods worth more than $30 in a “Russian shop”, then you will be brought back to your hotel for free, by transport from the store.
