Off-season Dominican Republic
Perhaps, some tourists are interested in whether it is worth going to the Dominican Republic, out of season. I will share my experience of rest, in June 2018.
I read a lot of different comments and understood the main thing - you need to try! The question was where to go: to the northern part or the southern. Since I am not fond of surfing, but prefer diving in calm and clear water, the choice fell on the southern part, i. e. the Caribbean Sea.

So, first impressions. You do not need to pay for entry and exit, as it is written on many sites. A visa is also not required.
Renting a car is a separate issue. The fact that the car was booked on Expedia. com, at a certain price, does not bother anyone. I had to pay almost 3 times more. Economy class cars do not have navigators. But you can rent a special device that will distribute the Internet to your phone.
Punta Cana Airport is a 1.5 hour drive from the Iberostar Hacienda Dominicus. The device was often buggy and had to stop and ask for directions. Ha ha. With English, for many, it did not work out, but with Spanish - for me. The highway is great, there are almost no cars. Riding is a pleasure. True, later I learned the other side, driving a car.
I was waiting to see palm trees, birds of paradise, amazing waterfalls. . . none of this, along the roads, no. Shrubs, low trees, rubbish.
The entrance to the hotel, as expected, was blocked by a barrier and a security guard. I haven't seen anything like it anywhere.
But the hotel itself struck me with its beauty and everything that I wanted to see! Wow! Peacocks, flamingos, turkeys, wild ducks and swans, among palm trees and blooming unseen trees! And the smell! Wake me up!! ! The hotel has 6 bars and 6 restaurants of different themes. Any elite alcohol, without queues and restrictions. Food - whatever your heart desires! Lobsters, oysters, mussels, smoothies, pastries, cheeses and sausages. . . All of excellent quality and freshness. The service is great. Of course, it's not like in a chic restaurant, but it's also far away, not a dining room. In general, everything is wonderful! We (me and a friend) got a room in complex 4, between the pool and the ocean. 30 seconds walk to everything. Spacious room with balcony overlooking the pool. TV, bar, sofa and large bed. There is a safe. What was pleasantly surprised - high-speed WiFi, throughout the hotel and the beach. Freely pulls video at any point. The air conditioner is quite quiet and the walls are well soundproofed.
The hotel hosts various shows. We went to see M. Jackson and Caribbean tunes. In the lobby lobby, a pianist plays every evening. You can smoke a cigar with a glass of champagne or dance. On the beach, hot Dominicans are teaching dance. Everywhere they offer to drink whatever the soul desires. In the pool, you can swim up to the bar and sit in the water, on a marble chair - order a delicious alcoholic cocktail. Or three, why bother. . .
We've been to five restaurants out of six. My friend didn't have pants. Why are they in the summer, in the Dominican Republic? We were not allowed into the French restaurant. Interesting Japanese "Geisha". Chefs show different tricks. But, the same restaurant in the USA is much better! Various rolls, tequila, fish, etc.
But the buffet is something! Breakfasts and dinners are great!
Baking alone - hundreds of cakes, breads, pancakes, chocolates and cookies.
Jamon, Italian smoked meat and sausages; cheeses; lobsters, oysters and mussels; all kinds of smoothies; coffee, tea and drinks; local fish and salmon; and everything you would like to try, including exotic fruits. Everything is fresh and tasty. Various wines.
Weather: I'll probably write a sequel to this story. After all, there are also excursions, diving, parasailing, an incredible ride, in Dominican cities.
