The Bavarian hinterland in all its glory!
I highly recommend to everyone not so much this particular villa (although it is good, but there are many similar ones), but the Garmisch region itself and its environs, as well as the option of staying in a small private guesthouse. Look at the photos and decide for yourself ; -)
Not so much foreign tourists as the Germans themselves love to live in private villas, sincerely and not expensively. Therefore, when choosing accommodation in small hotels, you need to pay attention to several things:
1. Many villas are not rented by the day, but by weekends or weekly. Many do not settle for a day at all or charge a so-called final cleaning fee - it can reach 15-30 euros per object.
2. There are few mass tourists here, the calculation is mainly for family vacations, in winter skiing. Therefore, you need to understand that many services that are so familiar to an ordinary tourist may not be available. Example, take out the garbage yourself, you are not provided with food, you also clean up yourself, etc. Communication with the owners, on an equal footing, and not "I paid, my gender! "
3. It is best to find out about all the points of interest in advance, in the letter - this is about parking, Wi-Fi, TV, final cleaning and a linen change schedule if you are staying for a long time.
Specifically for this villa.
On a flat, slightly elevated part of the town, with a good view of the Zugspitze. Behind the house is a mountain and a forest. There is free parking. They rented us the 1st floor of the house, with access to the courtyard, where we were the hosts alone. The view is wonderful! Bus stop-100m. City center - half an hour on foot.
The villa consists of: a corridor, a kitchen, a common room (20m), two bedrooms of 10-12 meters each, a common bathroom for 2 bedrooms with a shower.
The villa is ideal for 4 people - it has two separate bedrooms, but the maximum number of people is 7, as there is one pull-out sofa and a pull-out chair in the common room.
The amount of rent does not change depending on the number of people (only the city tax increases it).
The kitchen is fully equipped - large refrigerator, ceramic hob 4 conf, oven, dishwasher, coffee machine, kettle, full set of dishes, all condiments and improvised means.
Each bedroom has a separate exit to the courtyard, where there is a table, chairs, sun loungers, barbecue, etc.
The total cost in May of the entire villa is 72 euros per night. And this is not the cheapest villa! When searching, I was guided by the fact that we need 2 separate bedrooms (there were 4 of us), a full kitchen and +/- Bavarian style. Such options were both 50 euros and 60. Just at that time, the consulate required an advance payment and confirmation from the hotel. Not every private hotel was able to accept money. Fortunately, now the German consulate has enough reservations without payment.
For the winter period (and after all, Garmisch is the best German ski resort), the price rises, but not by much - up to 90 euros (for 2011, according to the hostess) and for holiday periods (Christmas, New Year, Easter, etc. ) - book in advance and with prepaid.
By the way, when searching, I did not come across villas and apartments that could be called dilapidated or not beautiful. All are very deserving!
So. What is in Garmisch itself?
There is the highest mountain in Germany Zugspitze with a ski resort, which consists of several separate ski areas. There are a lot of lifts - in winter for athletes, and in summer to deliver tourists to the mountains to observation platforms.
There is a Zugspitzebahn-lift-railway.
There is a ski jump, very famous, one of the oldest ski jumps in the world. Built in 1934, in 1936 used during the Olympic Games.
There is a very beautiful Partnachklamm gorge, just half an hour walk from the city center.
You can take a walk along the routes near the gorge and climb a little higher - the most beautiful views of the Alps open up. There is also a restaurant there.
In the city center there is a tourist info-mass of free paper information about everything in Garmisch and places worth visiting near it.
There are many sports equipment stores in the city. In May, there were many quality items of famous brands at good prices. Lots of sales - skis, masks, jackets, helmets, thermal underwear, etc. There are bike shops, and trekking gizmos and just sports clothes. Souvenir at a very good price.
