Our favorite cafes... Continuation of the culinary tour)))
I will continue my culinary tour, started in the previous entry. This time I want to give you the orientation and addresses of the restaurant and cafe where we liked to relax and eat delicious and cheap food. They are all located in the district of Wenceslas Square, but! I’m sure that your leaders and guides will not offer them to you, they have their own, “lured” places, they will pull you there ...We didn’t go there with everyone for the reason that our dad lives and works in Prague , he was waiting for us there and he himself took us to his proven places. Therefore, I am happy to share this information. And one more thing: we missed almost all optional excursions (it is clear why, dad took us to places that no guide would show), but we did not regret a bit!
I remember how more than half of our group complained that it was not clear for what pleasure they paid such money, to remember at least an evening walk with an expensive dinner on a boat along the Vltava, it was cold, damp and expensive there, while I, my daughter and our dad had a great time in warmth, fun and satiety in the restaurant "At Veyvodu".
Today I want to offer you an exquisite restaurant "Coffee and Cigars" on the street. Vodickova, 39, Prague 1. Don't let the name scare you away, if you don't smoke, you will be offered another room, immediately to the left from the entrance, on the podium. They have delicious salads, huge portions, I immediately warn you: one person will be fed up with one dish, but if you want to try something else, immediately share it with someone in half. In general, if there are two of you, it is better to take a couple of different dishes, one at a time.
If you order tea there (and they have a large selection of tea and they will bring it to you in a teapot, drink as much as you want), then there is a huge selection of desserts for it, there are even special diet cakes and pastries for losing weight ladies))). Of the dishes, I liked the baked trout in sour cream sauce with some delicious pasta and three types of leaf lettuce, and I also recommend an awesome salad with Parma ham and Parmesan, and my daughter really praised their Caesar. Although they have all the dishes are excellent and the prices are wonderful. They value their reputation and customers very much, and you will be convinced of this. I will never forget the first time we got there. My daughter and I were very tired, after the excursions, dad had to meet us in the center, on Wenceslas Square. The point of reference for the meeting point was McDonald's.
But dad was a little late, and my daughter and I went to McDonald's, by this time we were terribly hungry and even managed to order a standard set of their food (2 cheeseburgers, 2 potatoes, 2 teas and 2 pies), we were called the bill - about 500 kroons, but not we managed to submit our order and take the money, - then our dad flew up and literally pulled us out by the hand. Well, he took us to his favorite restaurant. You can find it like this: Vodickova is located directly perpendicular to Wenceslas Square. Somewhere in the middle of the square, on the right side, if you are facing the monument to Wenceslas, dive into the passage, go through it and go out to Vodickova. (By the way, for fun, we then specially calculated how much it cost us at "Coffee and Cigars" 2 huge portions of trout and pasta salad, bread rolls with cumin, a kettle of tea and 2 cakes - 460 crowns! Well, this can not be compared with prices and the quality of McDonald's fast food!
I also advise one wonderful place to go to warm up and relax in the softest chairs and drink tea or coffee with excellent pastries - in the cafe "Coffee heaven" ("Heavenly coffee"). Finding it is very easy: the cafe is located in the Lucerna passage on Wenceslas Square - if you are standing on Wenceslas Square. facing the monument to Wenceslas, then on the right side of the square, go into the passage of Lucerne (translated as "Lantern"), the lantern will be your guide, it hangs at the entrance to the passage, above the arch and the inscription Lucerna. Walk straight a little, and on the left you will see these bright neon orange shop windows of the cafe (it's hard not to notice it). The atmosphere there is amazing, you just won’t want to leave, but no one drives anyone there, you can sit for hours with one cup of coffee. I saw that the Czechs read and doze there (armchairs and sofas - relaxation! ), And work on laptops. And after the rest, you can continue the cultural program yourself.
When you leave this cafe and go straight along the passage, you will soon see an unusual sculpture under the ceiling - Wenceslas IV, but ...on an upside down horse))). Very cool, everyone takes pictures. This is the work of the famous Prague avant-garde sculptor David Cherny. All his works are like that, many consider him cool, many crazy, but that's what he became famous for (pink tank, "crawling" kids on the TV Tower, Vaclav on an inverted horse, "Shark" (i. e. , bound half-naked "Saddam Hussein" floating in the formaldehyde of an aquarium), Z. Freud and others)
I suggested you places where Praguers themselves like to sit, tasty, inexpensive and comfortable. Relax with pleasure!
