We are beginner travelers. And for each new trip, we prepare with youthful curiosity and enthusiasm, but due to age and little travel experience, some fears and self-doubt constantly arise. Moreover, our natural laziness and desire for comfort (well, as far as finances allow) prevent us from quickly making certain decisions. In general, when choosing a place to stay, our requests are not small - to choose a hotel that would not be junk, modern design, good breakfasts and not expensive, yes, and not in the middle of nowhere ...- not weakly so, yes : ) )
Here's what we got on our first (so far) visit to Prague.
Hotel La Fenice (Residence is not currently in the name) - is located a three-minute walk from the exit of the subway station Ji? ? ho z Pod? brad of the green line, this is the Vinohrady district, which, according to the administrative division of the city, belongs to Prague 2.
Excellent transport accessibility, and on foot to the very central center you can walk downhill. The way back is more difficult, of course, so the metro is very handy. So not in the middle of nowhere : ))
Since this is practically the historical center of the city, it is difficult to find new modern hotels here, except for well-refurbished old ones, but in this case the price tag will be, to put it mildly, not ours : )). So in this paragraph, either "modern design" or "for not expensive. " I don’t understand styles, I don’t know how to call them. The design of the hotel is designed in the style of an old living room and library. And the rooms are decorated in the spirit of the same era. There is such a powerful wooden cap hanging on the key, if you want it, you won’t take it away : ))
The room, although not large in area, but due to the light colors does not seem cramped. Looks nice. But the “antiquity” also affects: the cabinet is very dilapidated and creaky, there are no shelves, there are wire hangers.
There are no free sockets, bedside ones were used to recharge gadgets, so nightlights just took up space on the bedside tables)). There is a free safe, refrigerator, tea station. But the replenishment of tea and coffee bags apparently depended on the mood of the maid, and once the already empty coffee bags were put back in place, which made me furious in the morning. Well, okay, I'm an outgoing person : ))
For frequent travelers, probably, most of the hotels merge into a single mass. Although we do not consider ourselves to be such, nevertheless, in order to identify the hotels visited, we have to highlight some memorable features. So I will remember this hotel with a full-fledged window in the bathroom, from where there are wonderful views of Vinohradska Street and the Cathedral of St. Ludmila.
The bathroom itself is clean, tidy, somewhat unusual in layout. Plumbing is new.
Perhaps another oddity, or rather, lack of confusion when arranging a bathroom, is a high-placed magnifying mirror, which, with my 1.6 m, did not reach on tiptoe. There is no special need for it - this is understandable : )). So they nailed it according to the principle - it’s supposed to, so let it be : ))
About breakfast. Soulful! Delicious, satisfying, a lot of things - you can have a breakfast, you won’t walk out until the evening: eggs, omelettes, sausages, bacon, sausages and cheeses, vegetables and fruits, buns and sweets ...Yes, and what should be hot, it was! Change of assortment from day to day except for side dishes. There were many guests in the hotel, the dining room was never empty, starting from the very beginning of breakfast at 7.30, so there are no photos of "counters", I was too shy : )).
Well, about the staff. During breakfast, the tables were quickly cleaned up, the finished dishes were immediately replenished. The maids were not seen or heard, and we left immediately after breakfast.
But the towels were changed, there was no garbage left in the basket. I always smooth the bed myself, by virtue of my skills, after me they still make it up, but this time no one touched it : )). Reception staff are responsive to requests. During our stay, it got colder, at some point it became very cold in the room, which we informed the administrator about, on the same day the heating was turned on. Our trip was timed to celebrate a birthday. We plucked up the nerve and wrote to the hotel when booking (and we booked the cheapest room category, cancelable, without prepayment), they say, is it possible to claim any goodies in connection with a significant event? And is it possible, if possible, to place us higher and with a view of the city? The answer came almost immediately: any whim for your money, please read the price list for rose petals in bed, bouquets, etc. When placing, we will take into account your wishes.
And they have learned! We were already checking in late in the evening, the administrator met us almost with open arms, in a mixture of English, Czech and even Russian words it turned out something like: “Oh, Mr. and Mrs. V, we are waiting for you. Prepared the best number. Please take a look, will it suit you? ". Everything suited us, in any case, the views were wonderful.
It's nice, damn it, when they are waiting for you : )). As it turned out, it was this administrator who received and answered our letter. Well done, tea earned extra euros for beer.
Summary. In general, everything suited us, we got - what we asked for, as it seemed - and it happened. We recommend it to friends, but with the proviso that there are cheaper hotels. The only thing is, we, after all, prefer more modern options : ))
