We only spent the night at the hotel, the rest of the time we walked around the city. A bunch of all sorts of interesting excursions. The locals understand Russian, but not all))) just can’t answer, and answer in their own way. Near the hotel there is a supermarket, restaurants (pubs), a pharmacy. This supermarket sells salads and other culinary products. Unfortunately, there is no kettle in the room, but the restaurant is free and quiet. You can sit at home and drink coffee

Big clean rooms for not a lot of money, but the food is not very good. In a word, quiet and comfortable. Near the hotel there is a 24-hour McDonald's, a cafe and Billa. I myself am a student, so I will argue from an appropriate position on income and expenses : ) We took vouchers with excursions - 4 excursions were included - Sychrov Castle, Dresden (Germany), Old Prague, Prague Castle. I advise everyone to take such vouchers, because here it is much cheaper to buy these excursions in advance than in the Czech Republic from guides. We additionally paid only 1000 rubles for excursions. and there the same Dresden is 50 euros per person, all walking tours such as old Prague cost 10-15 euros. If you visit the Old Prague tour, do not buy exc. Mystical Prague, because these are absolutely identical excursions. We went to Karlovy Vary on our own, although you can also buy a tour, but it's much cheaper by yourself. Everything is very clear and accessible. You just get to the Florenc metro station and buy tickets to Karlovy Vary in the booths on the street, it’s better to go there and back right away. The cost is about 200 rubles for our money per person one way. For the tour you will give 50 euros per person. + entrance to buy a separate fee. It takes about 1.5-2 hours to drive. On the excursion, I myself saw how people are “driven” and don’t even have time to swim in the thermal spring, although if this is not done, then why go to Karlovy Vary. And we calmly managed everything, stayed longer than the excursion . buses, swam, sunbathed, walked, bought the famous waffles, had lunch. In general, do not be afraid to travel on your own. The same goes for Cesky Krumlov, Deep above the Vltava. In general, if you are interested in any question of how to get where to ask your guide, they will definitely tell you. All the information you need, maps of the metro, Prague, your hotel, how to get to Wenceslas Square, etc. they give on the transfer so do not fuss (like us! ) do not look for something in advance. I also really want to advise you to visit the zoo and the Trinity Castle there. This is the metro line C line and bus 112 (you need to cross the road as you get out of the metro) to go to the end. There is an excellent cafe "U Lisky" near the zoo (at the fox! ) Of course I it is especially sympathetic, but there they actually cook very tasty and cheaper than in the city. I also advise you to watch the show of singing (gooseberry) fountains. It costs 200 crowns for 1 person, performances in the evening from 20.00. It is also not far from the zoo, so you can combine it in one day. Metro too, but getting on tram 1.1 stop seems to be without crossing the road from the metro. There you will immediately see a large type of sports palace, in front of it is a square, go around this building and there will be a ticket office and fountains. In general, any resident will tell you if you ask where the Kryzhizhikov fountains are. Please note that Czechs practically do not speak English, and some do not know a single word in English. (even youth! ) so speak Russian or use a phrase book (like we do).
If it’s about food prices, then as I said, it’s not very expensive, in order to eat for two people to satiety in a good restaurant, you need about 600-650 crowns. The ratio (considered good) of the ruble and the crown is 1.5 to 1, that is, if the euro take, then in a good exchanger 1 euro = 24.4 crowns. to eat for every day for two you need about 1000 rubles. (this is at the end of August 2008) By the way, guides will tell you about exchangers, but in any case, know what is better to change in Arab exchangers and do not believe signs like 1 euro = 27 crowns. This is all a hoax. And even better, direct super-advice - take cards with money like a visa with you, it’s very convenient, ATMs are at every step and the rate is very good, almost 1 to 1. This is a big savings by the way : )

When planning a trip, I prepared, read reviews, was interested in the details... I expected a miracle: I was not mistaken!
I want more! Perhaps in the spring... !
And most likely on their own, now it's easier...
We did not have time to admire the Old Town Square, the Jewish Quarter, Wenceslas Square... and did not really see Charles Bridge at all...
But Prague Castle went around the whole and with great pleasure! It was cold, frosty - warmed up with mulled wine... and coffee! Fascinated by the Cathedral of St. Vita... grandiose... the weather let it down a bit and the observation deck was closed
A special impression of Karlovy Vary. . . cute.... toy. . . especially warm and cozy! - but it is better to see, of course!
We swam in the outdoor pool: they say that the water in it is half mineral! - but you can't confuse the smell of bleach with anything....but it's still pleasant, unusual.....
I would like to add a few words about the excursion to the Krusovice brewery! - 300 employees - just imagine! ) - but the scale and culture of production is impressive. The beer is wonderful! I especially liked the lemon flavor!
The road back to Ukraine seemed faster than "there"!
didn't want to go back. . .
P. S. Trips to Prague - lasting 6 days - do not justify themselves. I think this also applies to Hungary.
Justify: the road - 30 hours. one way and 30 hours. back - actually takes almost three days out of six! which means that "pure time" remains for Prague - one and a half days, and half a day for Karlovy Vary!
Plan your trip for at least 8 days! - or you will have to immediately think about a second trip! - for this city and this country - three days - nothing!
Have a good trip!

I've been to this hotel too! Bus tour to the Czech Republic, August 2007. What the esteemed author ghdf_fkgd wrote for his vacation in June 2004, I do not AGREE with many things !!! ! You are probably accustomed to luxury, chic hotel?? ? So it was necessary to check into a 5 * hotel, Hilton, for example, which is located near the river, where prices and quality are appropriate !! ! I will never believe that in PRAGUE, in connection with the World Hockey Championship, absolutely ALL hotels were occupied, and only the wretched hotel "DUM" received you. … More ▾ I've been to this hotel too! Actually, this hotel is more specialized in the accommodation of tourist groups!! ! So it's not at all surprising, there were a lot of people there, children who let out free advertising brochures from the balconies. At the expense of food, of course, there are not gourmet dishes, but just a morning snack. BUT, I saw every morning that the Germans sitting at the neighboring tables were very pleased with the food. European level 3 *. This is not Turkey, my dears, where "All Inclusive", eat, at least burst and get drunk!
The rooms are quite normal, 2-room. Cleaned regularly and carefully! As for the elevators, I’ll say that there are hitches, BUT, sorry, this is a public elevator, not a personal one with delivery directly to the bed! In the morning, a light bulb burned out in our toilet, we turned to the reception and left for an excursion. Returning to the room, everything was ok! The light bulb is in place, there is light, the room is clean, there is soap, the towels are clean every day. What else do you need ???
For tourists who come to Prague on excursions, this is a good place to relax at night. We slept, had breakfast - and go on an excursion to explore the city! This hotel is not intended for VIP accommodation.
And in conclusion, I want to say that dear gentlemen tourists, measure your appetites for luxury and ambitions with the pricing policy of hotels. If you want to get excellent service and gourmet food, pay more!! ! Free cheese, as everyone knows, is only in a mousetrap.

If you leave emotions, I’ll say it straight out - the hotel is bad, well, a maximum of one star, although there’s nothing to give it for. I don’t know how the owners of the hotel managed to get as many as three stars....This remains a mystery to me to this day. But I know how my husband and I got into this hole! I don’t know how the owners of the hotel managed to get as many as three stars....This remains a mystery to me to this day. But I know how my husband and I got into this hole! It all started in Moscow. My husband had to go to Prague on business and he instructed me to settle all the formalities. We had visas, tickets were not a problem, but there was a hitch with accommodation. The dates of our stay in the Czech Republic coincided with the Ice Hockey World Championship! Naturally, I knew nothing about it and did not even guess. As a result, after a week of searches and phone calls, only the DUM *** hotel confirms us. This is not the first time we are going to Prague and we know this beautiful city, as well as prices, etc. So the price of a hotel for double occupancy immediately seemed a little high to me, but there are no other options, but we have to go... so - Let's go!
The fact that the hotel is "cunning" I noticed at home. Everywhere DUM*** advertises itself as a hotel in Prague 4, but in fact it is located in Prague 12 : 0) But these are trifles compared to what awaited us ahead!
We got to Prague wonderfully, the way to the hotel seemed a little far, but this is tolerable, especially compared to our Moscow distances! But the hotel itself, especially the lady at the reception, stunned us right away. At first, they didn’t find us on the lists for accommodation and said that they couldn’t help, our desire to call the travel agency was politely shown on the phone machine on the wall of the hotel: 0) Like, all sorts of people go here. After persistent "requests" Madame looked at her lists again and still found our names! Oh good luck! - my husband and I thought, but it turned out that we began to rejoice early, because. as the hotel is populated after 14.00 and not a minute earlier!!! ! Lord! I may be unheard of and unseen lucky, but before that ANYWHERE and NEVER I had to wait for a room until 14.00! I was always settled when I arrived... It should be noted right away that everyone is obliged to leave the hotel at exactly 10.00 !!! ! Well, tell me what they do in the rooms from 10.00 to 14.00???? ? Nevermind. Until 14.00 we had a wonderful time in the city (only the road to the center took 40 minutes there and the same back), and, lo and behold, they gave us a room! Ha! This is something! Three star hotel room! Oil painting - two hospital couches, a refrigerator a la frosty (they proudly called it a mini-bar), a TV with a very small diagonal, a balcony with some feathers and dirt, half of the light bulbs are missing, the lamp does not work and other "charms" of three stars! Yes, and for some reason, only one couch and one soap and a towel are also covered for one. My husband called the reception and we - oh, a miracle! They gave me another number! Everything is the same there, only everything is for two and there are more light bulbs! But neither you shampoo, nor you other pleasant little things, relying on three stars!
The next "pleasant" experience in this hotel is the elevator! Fortunately for us, we were settled on the 4th floor! It's good that it's not 17 or 19!!! ! Since the elevator is constantly busy with tourists lowering or raising their luggage, and we had to go up and down 90% of the time on foot! And the hotel is constantly full of life! Groups come and go, come and go. . . Gloom. Basically, these are children's and youth groups with their noise, screams and other entertainment. For example, in the hotel lobby there is a stand with promotional business cards for restaurants, etc. So the kids stole these business cards in large quantities, and then threw them from the balconies of the upper floors. With what a wonderful whistle and rustle they (business cards, unfortunately, not children) fly past our windows! Song! : 0)
The first night on the couches of the Doom Hotel was the last for us : 0) No, my husband and I did not die of fear of falling on the floor and did not go deaf from the rattle and creak of these trestle beds! Not! It’s just that we slept all the following nights on a pull-out sofa, on which we guessed to move!! ! Luckily he was there! So you will stay at the Doom Hotel *** - do not repeat our mistakes - lay yourself on the couch right away! : 0)
Next up is breakfast! Hmm. . . What's the best thing to say about the buffet at the DUM*** Hotel? And there is nothing to say - just as there is NOTHING! Will cornflakes with milk for breakfast suit you? Then you will love having breakfast at the DUM*** hotel! And I also remember the poster in the restaurant of the DUM *** hotel! I quote: (naturally it is written there in Russian) EAT AS MUCH YOU WANT, JUST DO NOT TAKE FOOD FROM THE RESTAURANT! Hmm. . . no comment. And one more inscription in the hotel souvenir shop, also only in Russian: DO NOT TOUCH WITH YOUR HANDS! You know, maybe our tourists are not an example of culture and upbringing, but what the Italians or Latvians did is also not sugar....but not a word in Italian : 0(
Well, what else to tell you about the hotel DUM ***? ABOUT! I remembered! Morning, around 9:00. We just got up and had breakfast. We went into the room. The deployment is as follows - I bring beauty, husband, sorry, in the restroom. Yes, we sometimes go to the toilet when we need it! Moreover, my husband went there not in a tailcoat and a bow tie, but at home in shorts and a T-shirt... And then....suddenly the door quietly creaked (as in a song)... and a maid materialized in the room! I freaked out. We are closed from the inside. How did she get in? Aunt, meanwhile, silently started cleaning. Slaps, bastard, past me, I tell her - then they say, honey, then come in, and she squishes her snot with her nose and not a goog! But in the brain it stirs that it would be necessary for the husband to bring pants to the toilet... In a word, it's funny! The husband didn’t kill that aunt, no, she managed to leave earlier... There didn’t seem to be anything else so cool. Well, I had to personally take soap from the maid, they themselves stubbornly did not want to leave it on the sink for us. Well, once again, when we came to the room, we found something wet and dirty on the coffee table, upon closer examination, it turned out to be just a used rug from the bathroom. Obviously, it is with this object that the DUM*** hotel dusts coffee tables!! ! Brr. . . Did I ruin your appetite for a week? : 0)
Well, that seems to be all I wanted to tell
