I really liked the sea - the entrance is gradual, sandy, so it's very convenient for children. But it is worth sailing a little further away from the "paddling pool" - beauty !! ! It is imperative to swim in a mask in order to properly examine the fish that scurry under your feet. Moreover, at a depth there are many huge stones on which you can stand and relax, which is very convenient for not very skilled swimmers (like me).
Now about the hotel and the room. We chose the Family Room. For families with children, there is also a Kids Suite, but there is a two-story children's bed. This means that my children would definitely fight for a place in the sun (i. e. on the 2nd floor), plus they would also fall out of there... I thought that we didn’t need it. About the Family Room, it was indicated that there was a garden view - a view of the garden. I won’t say that I expected a view of paradise, but I secretly hoped for greenery. However, the view disappointed me - there is no greenery, some kind of burnt field... However, I was not upset for long, after all, I didn’t come to look at the sea from the window!
The water flow in the toilet was very poor. They asked to fix it, it seemed to get better, but there was still not enough water to solve the "big" problems. There is an inscription on the wall that water is bad in Cyprus, the guide told us about the same... True, problems with water did not affect the toilets in the "public" areas of the hotel. So we lived like that - whenever possible, visiting precisely "public" places. However, again, this is not a burden, because. We basically only slept in the room. And so - the room was cleaned normally, the air conditioner worked, the fan too. The air conditioner is a bit old, there are only 3 modes. Sometimes it turned out that it was hot - and you switch to the next mode and it’s immediately cold. In general, there is no golden mean, but nothing, we managed.
We took half board, but in general the vast majority of vacationers on "our shift" were on "all inclusive". And I think that if you go in the heat and with children - you need to take exactly "all inclusive". Because there are no restaurants near the hotel. We went to have lunch at the restaurant "Pinia", a child's step to it for about 10 minutes. Very friendly owners, you sit under the vines, the food is delicious - in general, we liked it. But if you want variety, then it takes more than 20 minutes to walk to a place where there are other restaurants with a child's step from the hotel, which, you see, is not particularly inspiring in the heat.
About the dress code. The rules seem to be there, but according to my observations, not everyone observed them. Especially men - in the heat for dinner, many were in officially prohibited shorts and flip flops, but no one blamed them for this and did not kick them out the door. So you don't have to worry too much.
The restaurant has a children's corner, but the kids will only pick up pizza-potatoes there, but they still eat with their parents. So the corner itself was empty.
Food - I liked it, especially seafood dishes. But halloumi cheese, and fruits were still tastier in restaurants outside the hotel.
There is animation, but we didn’t really participate in it, so I can’t say much here. During the first half of our stay, almost everyone around was Russian. But at the same time, there was not a single Russian song in the children's disco. I would also advise to include something Russian, but my children danced with pleasure to the "foreign" as well, so maybe I'm clinging in vain. The children also liked to sculpt and then paint clay vases, play Indians.
From what I didn’t like actively, this is the rule that if you leave a hotel towel “unattended” on a sunbed for more than an hour, the hotel has the right to take it from there and charge you a fine for loss. One towel - 12 euros. I understand that taking up seats and not using them is not good. But even such a fine seems too high, because the hotel left a towel !!!
Well, from personal grievances - either our circle and a towel disappeared (with ends) near the pool, then suddenly Greek-speaking (it seems) vacationers began to play with our circle in the pool, taking it from our sunbed without asking... We regularly go to rest, but We haven't seen anything like this in the hotel yet, so we were a bit surprised.
If from a very positive - I want to say a huge thank you to Elena from the reception!! ! So there all the girls spoke Russian, but not all were friendly to the vacationers. Elena is always a smile, a good mood, a positive attitude. He will always help, along the way he will have time to play with our children. In general, thank you very much!!!
From excursions we went to the fountains. In one package were - a view of Famagusta, a shopping center, the church of St. Elijah and the oceanarium. About the shopping center, the whole bus was dissatisfied, because. all with children, the store is expensive. But we still stood there for the prescribed 40 minutes, although, in my opinion, no one bought anything. It would be better if they were taken somewhere where you can buy homemade olive oil or something else from local products. I liked the fountains - there is fire, and smoke, and lasers - in general, children love this.
There is also a pier right next to the hotel, we independently (that is, not through a tour operator) rode a boat there (adult - 14 euros, child - 7). Route - we look at the coast, those who wish to jump from a cliff, 2 stops for swimming (the sea is blue-blue there !! ! But deep, so the kids need to take circles, etc. ) plus a view of Famagusta from the water.
We went from the operator Biblio Globus. I liked everything about their work - the buses are good, everything is done on time, the hotel guide explains everything to the point and adequately. I also liked the fact that the plane was Transaero, otherwise charters are often such that you won’t look without tears. And here the plane is very decent.
Ah, the internet. WiFi in the hotel is paid, it costs 6 euros for 24 hours (as soon as you activated the password, the countdown went on, no matter what you can, and used it for 10 minutes. ) The Internet is very slow, endlessly interrupted. In general, it is better not to mess with him at all, but to relax and enjoy the sea.
Unfortunately, we did not travel around Cyprus. Firstly, the heat, and secondly, such a sea that you don’t want to leave it. I hope someday we will visit in a cooler time and then we will see everything. The Cypriots themselves, with whom I had a chance to talk, were all very friendly and smiling. So I think that our vacation was a success! I recommend Golden Coast and Protaras to everyone who travels just for the sake of the sea, go - you won't regret it!
