First trip with a baby. Cypriot Limassol.
And again I am writing about sunny hot Cyprus, which we happened to visit again this year thanks to the invitation of our good friend. This time we rested in Limassol, we went with the whole family with a small child (1 year and 2 months old), we successfully took an inexpensive tour to the usual Limassol "two", and lived all the time with our friend. And if you don’t particularly find fault with the weather, which heated the air to us to an unbearable 33 degrees without any air movement, and also don’t take into account the whims of a small child, it’s safe to say that the holiday was a success. So. . .
You can relax with a small child quite comfortably if you strictly follow some rules, namely: - during the flight, in order to avoid pain in the ears when atmospheric pressure drops, instill ordinary nasal drops (for example, "Nazivin") into the child's nose and give a bottle of liquid when takeoff and landing. Ideally, if the baby falls asleep at least for a short time (as happened with us), then you will have less time to drag him down the aisle, to the joy or displeasure of sitting passengers.
- Feed minimally on the road, preferably not heavy food, especially if you are flying for the first time and do not know if your baby will be rocked. We gave juices and fruit purees from the store. By the way, customs regulations allow carrying baby formula in a bottle, juices and even ordinary water for a child in hand luggage, which is strictly prohibited for adult passengers.
- Take with you the usual things that you use at home. This is especially true for food.
- on the road you will have to entertain the child all the time, so please be patient and use various entertainment paraphernalia.
- Try to follow the usual routine of the day as much as possible. We did not always succeed, so we had to periodically listen to the indignant roar of the child.
- in the first days of your stay on vacation, your baby is waiting for acclimatization. We managed with snot, which accompanied us all the rest.
- carefully consider the contents of the first aid kit for the baby. In foreign pharmacies, there are often only analogues of the medicines we are used to, which are much more expensive. We carried a heavy package for this case, since we had to use only nasal drops and a nozzle.
- recommendations for healthy sun exposure are more relevant than ever for young children. We went out in the morning and after 16-00.
- with a positive attitude of the parents and a strong desire to relax, this is exactly how everything will work out for you! We took the child to restaurants, walked along the embankment and the city in the evening, went on excursions outside the city ourselves, swam in the sea and in the pool, in general, we had a good rest.
The representative of the Limassol "two" was the Caravel Hotel2 *. The hotel as a whole is not bad, 7 km from the city center, 50 meters from the beach. The room is modest but clean. Small balcony with side sea view. Air conditioning will be offered to you on a deposit of 20 Euros at the reception. The hotel is small and has almost no territory. The small pool is all white with chlorine, the tiles in the tiny children's room have fallen off in places. There is a kind of slide and a children's swing. But in the room there is a beautiful crib, colored, with a thin mesh on the sides. Judging by the expression on our faces, we immediately liked it there. The hotel breakfast leaves much to be desired. Sliced cheese, soy sausage, chopped egg, milk, muesli and toast. On the faces of the staff it is written something like this: "What did you come here to eat? " The hotel is only for those who will plunge into the sea in the morning and leave until the evening. A great option for lovers of "very cheap to go somewhere. "
Limassol is very inferior to the resort of Ayia Napa. Gray volcanic sand unpleasantly sticks to the body, which is why everyone walks around somehow smeared in mud. Dense buildings on a hot afternoon do not let you breathe. Much fewer restaurants and clubs, as it seemed to us. Even in the tourist area, you can feel the feeling of a leisurely city life, rather than a noisy resort. But you will certainly like it if you are not a fan of a noisy party society.
Of the sights, I can note the castle of Kolossi, which, in principle, is not impressive either in appearance (apparently in those days they did not particularly pay attention to decorations), or in interior decoration, because. nothing of the interior has been preserved. Excavations of the ancient city of Amathus, picturesquely lying stones with a small church of St. Barbarians, where we managed to look. And of course the famous stones of Aphrodite, from where, according to legend, she came out of the sea foam. The stones themselves are located in a picturesque place, very romantic. The water there is cold and scalding, the waves beautifully run one on one and easily foam, and the surroundings are decorated with heart-shaped stones laid out by couples in love as a sign of eternal love. . .
In early September, Limassol hosts the famous wine festival on the island, where we got with interest at the very beginning of our trip. With an entrance fee of 6 euros, you have the opportunity to get a bottle of wine of your choice and stroll through the noisy festival in a crowd of drinking, chewing, dancing and singing tourists and locals. Enterprising Cypriots will offer you a glass or a plastic bottle for 1.5 euros, where they will generously pour you their wines as much as you can drink.
In September it is still hot in Cyprus. Therefore, if you are not a fan of the summer heat, go somewhere where it is cooler and you can sleep at night without air conditioning.
And the last. The nature in Cyprus is very diverse, the sea is clean and transparent, the cuisine is delicious and satisfying, and the people are friendly and friendly. What else do you need for a great vacation?
