Dasha and I have a rule - do not repeat trips to the same places. The only exceptions are Egypt and Turkey. But six years of patience… could not resist and took Georgia, then they took it again, but with Misha. As a result, they completely broke down and took another Cyprus. After all, Misha is also interested in what is there in Cyprus. But there is one problem - a severe lack of vacations. We decided to take tickets for a minimum number of days and return. Then I suggested that we could take Dasha's mother, bring her along with us and leave her in Cyprus with Misha, and in a week they would return to the airport by the same bus. The mother-in-law did not have to be persuaded for a long time. After thinking for another 20 minutes, Dasha put forward a logical chain - since I don’t have enough vacation, then she and her mother and Misha will stay in Cyprus, and I can return to my favorite job. That's it!
Misha slowly began to understand how air fares are formed. From the phrase “We got tickets” to departure, an average of 350 days pass. Misha at first did not understand why it took so long to wait, but I explained the basics of marketing to him)
Ayia Napa
This is one of my favorite cities, it's like Las Vegas, the city of eternal celebration. But we flew to meet spring, before the start of the tourist season. The island met us with green landscapes, flowering trees, chamomile groves, all kinds of poppies. It was very unexpected, in our memory Cyprus was a scorched steppe. Everything here is so colorful. In contrast to the natural beauty, an unprecedented silence reigned in Ayia Napa. There were no festivities, no boats, no loud club music. Only one club was open, from which very calm and quiet music could be heard. There are practically no people, the most beautiful sunsets on the embankment, but there is no one to watch them. In the morning we went by bus towards Protaras. From there we started our hiking route towards Ayia Napa.
Flowers, green trees, grass. Joy simply knew no bounds. This cannot be, apparently our plane just landed on another island! Although the sea is cold, but the nature is so fresh! We planned this a year ago, but still we couldn’t believe that it would be so green! We started our difficult route from small lava islands in the icy water.
Misha and I set a goal to get as far as possible. Sharp stones crushed our legs, but we endured, the goal of reaching the distant island is more important. Almost fell into the water a couple of times. Dasha and her mother sat on the shore and applauded every time we moved to a new stone. This is purely male entertainment. In the end, we outdid ourselves and got to the island, which seemed unattainable without swimming.
Then we went along the coastline along the caves. The sun warmed pleasantly, it was both cold and hot at the same time) The road was long, we covered kilometers after kilometers, passed beautiful caves and water landscapes. Misha demanded a bath. None of us ventured into the water, but if Misha wants to, then let him bathe. On another beautiful beach, Misha swam with such pleasure that we were even a little envious. Cape Greco, we passed through the baths with water, which were formed at its foot.
And even in the bath, Misha was noted with his head, though unplanned. The beauty of spring Cyprus is that you can walk any distance without fear of the direct sun. Thus, during these half a day we covered more than ten kilometers. Dasha and I were really shocked. Misha, who in Kyiv can not pass even 20 minutes, they say, his legs get tired, here he ran ahead almost all the time.
The mother-in-law was also heroic. And even in the evening she said that we should go to the park of statues, which is located 2.5 kilometers from the hotel. I suggested at least taking the bus, but my mother-in-law said that it was okay without a bus. I couldn't figure out if I was being trolled hard, or if everyone was really that impressed with the spring. Dasha and I looked at each other in surprise and went towards the park. True, it turned out that Nina was talking about tomorrow and was very surprised when she found out that we were not going to the hotel, but to the park. Phew, now I'm calm) Tomorrow we'll take the park in addition to the new route. The daily reward for the completed route was the most delicious ice cream from the Zorpas confectionery.
They spent another sunset, took Nina and Misha to the hotel, and they themselves went to conquer the mountains of night Cyprus. True, you can’t call them real mountains, they simply don’t exist in the city, but nevertheless we were able to find heights with panoramas of the city for ourselves. One of the downsides of March was that a lot opens up in April and May. Even on one of the ATMs there was a sign that he would issue money only from April to October!
It was also problematic to buy ice cream on the routes. Even in an open stall we were told to come in a week. In general, ideally, spring Cyprus should be set at the beginning of April.
New day - new route
We started the day with a sculpture park, 5 years ago we did not know about it yet, although it was opened a month before our last trip. There are really a lot of sculptures and everyone will definitely find something interesting for themselves in the park. Misha was really more interested in the question of when we would get to the sea. The sea in the city is so beautiful that I even changed clothes to swim!
True, he did not dare to climb into the water. But changing clothes is already half the battle, I think. In any case, we made a long route along the lava ledges right up to the cave. So, the morning workout is over, now we will have lunch and we can start a long hike. We dined at Pizza hut, where the waitress pleased me, when asked about the size of the pizza, she answered “Pizza consists of 12 pieces!!! ”. While waiting, Misha showed the height of erudition by solving crossword puzzles in English!
Today we drove to Protaras and climbed the hill to the church of the prophet Elijah. The church is located on a picturesque hill overlooking the city. Misha immediately became friends with the girl, and they played Minecraft. The girl really didn’t know Misha’s rules, but Misha quickly explained what was happening. Then we went inland to another cave temple. The road was through thickets, a little uphill, mother-in-law and Misha actively approved the ideas of our routes.
Dasha and I were more and more shocked by how Misha and Nina valiantly overcome kilometers with obstacles. But the route also tried to please us with benches and even pavilions in the wild. As a result, we came to a very old cave temple. I suggested walking back straight to the hotel in Ayia Napa.
The proposal seemed a little crazy, but if we return a few kilometers to the bus, wait for it, and then from the bus stop we will reach the hotel, it will be 10 minutes faster than we will walk some 5-7 kilometers through forests and paths. To my surprise, even this idea was supported almost without hesitation. That's just one minus, the road lies through a military base. You need to turn at the fork, right at the entrance to the military. Seeing us, the guard perked up. He was clearly wondering why we were walking so confidently towards the entrance to the base. The fork began so close to the gate that a certain awkwardness reigned between us and the guard. The guard saw in Dasha's eyes the past Dominican Republic, Brest, Vietnam, I think he perfectly understood that he was dealing with professionals. But when we reached the fork, we turned sharply. From the outside, it might have seemed as if we noticed a guard and decided to drastically change our route. By the way, the road of this route with stunning views of the island.
If you are strong in nerves, then go ahead! The only negative of our idea was that the route was predicted 10 minutes earlier than it would become dark after sunset. I had to go almost without rest. Misha charged his energy with dried fruits and nuts, which his grandmother took for him every day. We got to the hotel as winners, today's route took 16 km!! ! Everyone unanimously agreed that before dinner you need to lie down in bed for an hour.
For dinner we went to one of the restaurants and ordered meat meze. In addition to the fact that we felt like winners after the passed route, the restaurant also turned out to be especially successful. The waiters and the manager really went out of their way to make our dinner a treat. As a result, we ordered a meze for two people, ate it for four, and also took it with us for breakfast. How good it is in Cyprus!! ! But I have to leave tomorrow
In the morning we went to Larnaca, walked there for an hour, and I put my mother-in-law with Misha and Dasha on a bus to Limassol. I still had a few hours to walk around Larnaca. An interesting fact is that we deposited our belongings at the reception of the same hotel as five years ago. We were gladly accepted) I already wrote five years ago that the Cypriots are an excellent nation, this year I repeatedly upvote that entry. I didn’t remember that I wrote this before and I wanted to write about it again)))))
In general, people are really positive and honest. As soon as I flew to Kyiv, Dasha immediately began a lot of adventures. From buses that decided to change their daily route on the go to a cornucopia of food on a UIA plane. Four days later, when Dasha flew in and called me, I asked what to cook for dinner, to which Dasha proudly said: “Don’t cook, we have a lot of food from the UIA plane, we had an unprecedented story during the service! ”.
My young travelers actively spent their rest of their vacation - they explored the whole of Limassol, the Ruins of Amathus, visited Paphos, the stones of Aphrodite, as well as the ancient city of Kourion. Proud of them!
