To fly on an excursion from Varadero to Cayo Largo, you need a charter flight, and if there are no tickets, then it will not work, so in my opinion you need to take a tour in advance in Ukraine. A lot of people write and dream of getting to Trinidad in Cuba, I was there at the hotel Hotel Brisas Trinidad Del Mar 4 *, the hotel is excellent - the rooms are clean with rich furniture, TV, refrigerator, air conditioner. bars and restaurants on the territory and the beach, free catamarans and sailboats, despite the fact that the beach in hotels is considered urban (there is no beach in Trinidad itself) everything is clean and the local population is very small. The ocean there is much saltier than near Havana, and the sand, to my great surprise, did not heat up at all at 32 degrees of heat. It is most profitable to take a car in Cuba in September-October, gasoline costs the same as in Ukraine, and of course if you have a company. You can book hotels along the entire route while still in Ukraine, so it will be much cheaper than taking them on the spot, via the Internet or renting houses from Cubans (the cheaper the less chances to stay with money and things). I flew to Cuba myself and with my family through various travel agencies, but I liked the tour that I took from Yulia Bozhko in Kyiv, her company is called Feriado - a tour, I learned a lot about Cuba from her, since she was there more than once.
