Sunny Beach 2019: dance and work
A training is advertised on the Internet - create your own yoga tour in Bulgaria, well, if you live there, of course. Well, when you come to work there, do you live there, or what? So this year I lived and worked in Sunny Beach for the second summer in a row. I somehow didn’t work out with yoga, but the alcohol-dance tours in the center of the “Bastion of concrete, neon, silicone and vodka from a can, ” as the Bulgarians themselves call Sunny Beach, I get just superb, because I studied all promotions and locations of night eateries. First, we drown in Babbls, where until one in the morning the girls are poured an “almost non-alcoholic” cocktail for free, but they don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. The music is cool, you can hang out for 40 minutes, while there are few people.
After that, you can drink something on the beach to get back to dancing "norm" and go to "Viking", "Mexo" or "Amigo". Admission is free if you go with your bottle of cola, in which whiskey splashes - it is better to carefully hide it so that the guards do not take it away, and dance as much as you like - the music is downhole everywhere. If you are tired of dancing, you can go to show off your vocal abilities in karaoke (by the way, there is a free toilet there), but you will be allowed to sing only after you buy alcohol. Tea or coffee is generally not served in such establishments. Tired of singing - you can go back to the disk, by two o'clock in the morning there is the height of fun.
A few words about the establishments themselves. There is not enough space in Viking, it is hot in Amigo, the music in Cabana is too loud. You can also go to Hasstac - everything is great there, but for men the entrance fee is 10 lev. There are also nightclubs, the entrance ticket to which costs 20 lev, while for an hour you can take free cocktails at the bar. But how many cocktails can you drink in an hour, and the quality of the "ball" drink is usually bad - mostly ice, sprite and a little "vodka from a can". The best option is to go to Mexo or Brexit, and Happy hours cocktails - two for the price of one - are served in almost all restaurants.
The design of clubs and cafes is very unpretentious, mostly wooden buildings with a reed roof (made of g-vna and sticks), the furniture is also almost everywhere wooden - it is easier to wash. In some places there were white sofas and illuminated floors, as in Bounce and Barisych, but visitors didn’t care about such show-offs. And if there were no problems with clients at Bounce - seasonal workers and the Nigerian lads, who drank so much that the guy was noisy, mostly hung out there, then the pompous Barisych, as a rule, was empty. Its chic furnishings from the category of "expensive-rich" and hookahs in the form of skulls rather scared away than attracted customers, and the security guards diligently expelled overexcessive visitors from these "holy" walls.
Straps? I do not think, because they mercilessly diluted tequila. It was a pity to spoil beautiful furniture with "drunken dups", but, as they say, if the design does not bring profit, then this is art. Or guano. Therefore, the traffic there was rotten, although it was, in general, the only bar where you could sing karaoke in Russian, and then only three times a week. In other similar institutions, Russian songs were not staged in principle. “We don’t turn it on so that there are no fights, ” my Bulgarian friends from Tonis Karaoke explained to me. Therefore, I had to replenish my repertoire with several compositions in English. Everything is in the piggy bank of the notorious self-development!
Lonely Monroe. . . Pathetic resemblance of last season. . .
If design doesn't make a profit, it's art. . . or guano. . .
But not only Barisych suffered losses, and not only because of the design. The 2019 season was frankly a failure, this summer the central street of Sunny Beach was almost empty. Turkey dropped prices, Greece was advertised by travel agencies, Russian airlines raised prices for flights to Burgas and Varna, and even for the British and Israelis, the cost of tours began to bite. Therefore, last year's motley, tattooed crowd of cheerful, sexually horny drunkards, painted in different colors, has transformed into a liquid stream of disgustingly sober and decent people.
No one showed their naked ass from the balcony, I didn't notice kissing gays in nightclubs, there were no noisy student parties and stag parties with dressing up in women's outfits. Tattoo parlors were idle, people did not break into striptease shows and rarely stocked up in sex shops, and karaoke halls were occupied by toothless English songwriters. There are fewer couples in love, garbage and seagulls on the seashore. "Nyama choir! " (No people! ) - the Bulgarians cried. And only stuff - seasonal employees of hotels and cafes - came to Sunny Beach almost in full last year's staff. Therefore, I didn’t get bored in the evenings, I would have had the strength to have fun after a long day at work.
Now a little about the work. I worked as a “saleswoman” in a store, 12 hours a day, seven days a week. They treated me well, they could not stand the brain. They fed 2 times a day, of high quality - the hostess's husband worked as a cook in a restaurant. Two hours break in the middle of the day allowed me to swim in the sea or in the pool. At first everything seemed fine, but at the end of the season I was very tired. A long work day did not give me the opportunity to do personal business, I was tied to one place, like a sheep to a fence. If you want to have fun at the disco - at the expense of your sleep and strength.
The manicure master came to me at 11 pm, and we usually did not finish before 3 o'clock in the morning... On a date - also quickly, quickly. If she was late from lunch or overslept, the hostess carefully calculated the hours and minutes from the total earnings. She did the same when she closed the store ahead of time or let me go without my request. Well, two meals a day is not enough, I had to spend a lot on breakfast and fruit, and there was nothing to mention about bonuses. For our trade went from bad to worse.
There were several reasons for this. There were really few tourists, those who arrived did not want to overspend. And we also had a competitor Maryana in the neighborhood, who kept a clothing store. And although we had a completely different product, beach (inflatable crocodiles, swimwear, flip flops, hats and glasses), there was no peace between our outlets, because we still had the same position, and very prosaic - men's bathing shorts. We had a hard price - 25 lev per unit, but by the end of the season Maryana was desperately dumping - 8 lev (4 euros).
As a result, Maryana lost the “Battle of the Panties”, closing the store at the end of August, but my mistress also “hung” with panties for two seasons in advance. She did not want to reduce prices, while losing customers. “People with money will come and buy, ” she said. And such people really came and bought up from us, but most often one-time. After looking around and comparing prices in other places, customers diligently bypassed our store on the other side of the road. Around, around, around…
Some migrant workers had worse situations. Disgusting food and the bad attitude of employers in Bulgaria, unfortunately, are not uncommon, so a couple of my friends left home in the middle of the season. Yes, the Bulgarians don't really like us, that's a fact. They just tolerate it like cheap labor. We are Russian speakers, not only Russians by passport, but they do not understand the Ukrainian language at all. "Rusnatsi" - they say with disdain behind their backs. They may refuse to serve and point to the exit from the store if, God forbid, you try on a thing for too long. In general, there is no smell of Turkish hospitality in Bulgaria, but prices are rising from year to year.
The food of my girlfriends. . . The smell is terrible!
According to salaries for Russians and Ukrainians, the alignment is as follows: 350-700 euros per month, with 700 euros received by the cook for hellish 12-hour work without days off. For comparison: Bulgarian or Turkish chefs receive from 1.500 euros. The maid (maid) plows for only 350-400 euros, 9 hours a day with one day off a week, but often the girls do not have time to clean everything in a day and stay after work. The most “criminal” position at the resort is the vikachi, that is, barkers. But the "stealers" there - zas, mostly either Bulgarians or exotic immigrants from Nigeria and Ghana work in such places.
Black as night, mostly tall, handsome, with muscular figures, former athletes and students of European universities who know several languages are popular with Bulgarian employers. Vikachi worked from 6 to 8 hours a day (in the evening and at night), and received from 60 to 75 euros per shift. The Russian vikachka in Barisych was paid only 25 euros per evening, and I generally keep quiet about my salary. Damn, why am I not a huge Nigerian in dreadlocks? I would have mowed down a normal loot...
In general, I'm not particularly happy with this escapade. Will I return to these shores next summer? "Sunny Beach loves you Elena! " - so my Bulgarian friends tell me. . . I don't know, time will tell. Nigerian lads, by the way, promised to adjust the normal work. Well, and alcohol-disco tours - where would I be without them?
