This year we were in Bulgaria for the first time. We rested in Albena, at the COM hotel. Four adults, from August 28 to September 6. We were lucky with the weather. The sea is clean, the beach is sandy, super! As for the hotel, the impression is twofold. After reading the reviews, we were ready for reality, but still, some moments upset us a little. To begin with, the territory of Albena is a closed, paid territory, you have to pay 2 leva at each entrance. Hotel cleaning is also paid - 10 lev per day. Not knowing this trick, we drove into the hotel parking lot to unload things and had to pay 10 lev, the next day they overtook the barrier (for free, put it where you want). To the sea-15 min. even if. 200 meters from the hotel there is a stop with a free bus to the sea (stop hotel Ralitsa). If you go to the left to the Paradise blue hotel, you can go down on the excolator from 8.00 to 11.00. 30 and go up from 11.30 to 23.00. 00. The hotel was built in Soviet times in 1974. , in 2002 was renovated, but today the hotel is already in need of a new renovation. Toilets in the rooms are weird. You can take a shower without getting up from it : ). There was an unpleasant smell from the drain hole, I had to constantly plug it with a plastic bag, otherwise all the towels would be soaked. Perhaps we are the only ones unlucky with this. The room was cleaned every day. Towels were changed only on request, but no problem. For 9 days the bed was not changed even once. There was air conditioning in the room but we didn't use it. to. there was no need for this. Refrigerators can be used at the reception or in the bars. Wi-fi was almost everywhere, except for the restaurant and the pool. The hotel has 4 buildings, 3 nearby and 1 is located at a distance behind the pool and restaurant. The pool is located in the restaurant and snek bar area. Snek bar and its staff left a lasting negative impression on the first day of our stay. But I won't go into details. We liked the pool, there is a children's and a small slide, a jacuzzi. The toilets near the pool were always dirty, the hotel area looked a little unkempt due to fallen leaves. Special thanks to the animators, well done, they tried as best they could, but at the time of our check-in, out of 800 people, 200 remained in the hotel and therefore there were very few who wanted to participate. For those who have little entertainment in the hotel, there is a night disco "TCAR" (near the administration and a large parking lot), there is also an exchanger (1 € -1.92 lev). The presence of a gym should be removed from the description of the hotel, because. to. actually it is not. Almost everything that can be broken was broken in it, and it seems that it has not been cleaned since the day the hotel opened. Of the 4 simulators, you can somehow work out on a bike and lift the neck with a small weight (with large locks break down). We were quite satisfied with the food, although there were people who did not like everything. Given the budget of a 3-star hotel, it was not necessary to count on something special. And yet 15 minutes. the road to the sea saved us from a couple of extra pounds. Bearing in mind that all the waiters, chef assistants and bar workers are students from different republics from 18 to 22, doing their internship, the service was good. Many Russian-speaking waiters, mostly from Ukraine. Michael from Chernihiv in "Lobbi bar" is beyond praise. Paradise bar on the beach no longer refers to the Com Hotel as stated in the description. Now it is a restaurant "Green forest" (from the hotel Boriana), located 200 meters from the beach in a forest (terminal stop of the free bus). And so: all the disadvantages of this hotel are a fact, but if you don’t want to spoil your vacation, then look at everything through your fingers. Have fun, walk, communicate, more positive and everything will be fine!

The hotel is not bad, 3 * justifies its. The rooms were cleaned every day, food and alcohol flowed like a stream. Now the hotel has 70% of holidaymakers themselves Bulgarians. There are Poles, Moldovans, Romanians. Here are a few Russians, Belarusians and Germans. The staff does not speak Russian well. As such, there is no discos.

In the evening there is the usual animation "for children". During the day, the animators entertain people well. The hotel is NOT YOUTH, but a family one, there are many families with children, so if you are hoping to hang out, then you should go to another hotel. In general, it is better for young people to go to other resorts, Albena for a relaxing family vacation!

At first glance I liked everything - the room is nice, they clean it daily. There are many pools, the slide is always working. Children's pool with a "shore", as in the sea - very cool. The cuisine is quite varied, as for the "troika", very tasty. It's far from the sea, but it's nice to paddle down the reserve.

They did not use the hotel bus upstairs, but traveled by train for their own money. They also serve food on the beach. True, the Havana Club serves only from 11.30 to 16.30. It used to be possible, but for the money))) True, there is nothing to pay for, natural coffee is nasty, ugly.
Animation is designed more for adults - a lot of sports competitions, animators-inventors always dressed up funny. For kids, the entertainment is pretty boring. Only a mini-disco saved the situation a little.
And then surprises began - the curtains that we did not use turned out to be tattered and dirty. First, a child was poisoned by boiled sausage. Then I began to notice that yesterday's pasta was served for breakfast. a couple of times served canned fruit with compote spoiled. Only the first time they were taken off the table. And then they ignored my remarks. Some kind of sugar syrup was served together with honey, without even a single hint of honey. And at the end of the vacation, I got poisoned by fish. I understand that this is possible in any hotel. But no one wants to recommend this hotel. Although, in general, everything was fine. For the "troika" - very much so.

I completely agree with the previous reviews - just flew in from there yesterday. Only now they claim to be 3 stars, but in fact they do not pull even 2 stars. The food is disgusting - there is nothing to eat, so there are still rotten and sour pieces that they "pack" into salads for the next meal. There are cobwebs in the rooms.

You can’t reach the sea, a free bus is like an electric train at rush hour, but you won’t run into trains - 70 rubles. for an adult and 50 rubles. for the child. No animation, children's discos - every day the same thing. Reception - some unkempt girls stand and ask for 2 leva for all services. In short, the vacation is ruined, they asked for a lot of money. Albena herself is beautiful, but for some reason I don’t want to go to Bulgaria anymore...

Well, I will write a review in hot pursuit of this hotel, we arrived from there today. In general, they should not have gone there, because. booked a wonderful hotel near Ralitsu, but there were no places there, they offered only this option, despite a lot of bad reviews about this hotel, they still decided to go, maybe everything is not as people write? I must say right away that this is my first vacation in Bulgaria, before that it was Ukraine - everything is simple, there were no hotels and such a service, but still I am well versed in this and I know what services I should receive for paid rather big money.

In order. The level of service, in principle, well, in principle, is good, the waiters instantly remove the dishes from the tables, the food constantly appears, the rooms are cleaned daily. In this regard, everything is excellent.
Further. Number. I liked the room, clean, bright, cozy, though the bed staggered a lot, you can see one leg is shorter than the other and I had to lie only on one side, but that's not the point. True, our shower was broken, which we immediately reported to the reception desk, promised to send someone, but no one came for 7 days of rest, we didn’t really appear, because water flowed and okay, not picky in that regard. The maid came to us once to clean when we were in the room, asked if we wanted to change the bed, but at that moment we didn’t want to get up, and she offered to do it tomorrow. We gladly agreed. But neither tomorrow nor the day after tomorrow she changed her bed and hardly changed it at all, although she had to do it three times in a week. . . we are clean girls, our beds were clean anyway. The fact is important.
Convenience and location. Of, to be honest, a terrible location, at the very top of Albena, getting back to the beach was a little annoying, sometimes the shuttle bass saved. And so the hotel is arranged well, the pool is in the middle, there is also a restaurant, as they call it, and all that.
What did you like. So there’s nothing even to remember, I didn’t really like anything... Except that amazing cakes were served for dessert in a restaurant, but nothing else. Sometimes the meat is delicious, they know how to cook it.
What did not like. Food. . . There seems to be a lot of food, a lot of tables, but in fact there is nothing to eat. Pasta and rice, as if unfinished, undercooked, oak, mashed potatoes, like glue, I didn’t even dare to try the rest, having read reviews about E. coli... The plates were sometimes greasy. We had an ultra all inclusive, but I still didn’t understand how our ultra differs from a simple all, because. We didn't have anything special! No alcoholic drinks for you, which flowed like a river in a nearby hotel for the same price, juices diluted with water, dried fruits, to be honest, it's a shame...
Albena is a wonderful resort, to be honest. Everything is green, clean around, wonderful in the heat, and it’s so simple, the breeze is fresh, the beach is huge, the sea is clean, perfect, though there are sooo many crabs at the bottom, it was sometimes scary to step on. Umbrellas and sun loungers are comfortable. The bus to the beach is also convenient, only it has a small schedule, from 9.30 to 17.30, and we went to the beach earlier or sometimes by bus, back when we had time at 12.30-13.00 by bus, then there if you got on the bus, too, 15.00-16.00, and back already dragged up the hill on foot, because. left the beach late hours at 6-7.
And, also, the lifeguards are too vigilant, on the one hand, this is, of course, good, you know that you will definitely be rescued, but if an adult wants to swim on a mattress, and a yellow flag is hanging, the lifeguard will immediately kick you out, only you can swim without anything. Green - everything is allowed, it was only on the day of departure, which was very upsetting. The resort is small, but there is where to take a walk, there are many markets and small shops, but the prices, it seems to me, are too high. Be sure to check out the boutique of Brazilian shoes, there are very beautiful models for women, girls, and for men, and for children, beautiful and comfortable models. In general, they said that Albena is a youth resort. I am ready to refute this, there are a lot of families with children and elderly people, so this is quite a quiet and cozy place to stay.
If I go to Bulgaria again, I will definitely choose Albena again, I don’t even want to go to another place, but only to another hotel for sure. People don’t go to Kom, it’s better to pay a little extra and relax in Vita Park or Ralitsa, which are two minutes from Kom, especially since the difference is 1 euro per day in total.
The people with whom they went on vacation are delighted with Vita Park for the third year already, and the food and alcohol are imported - this is ultra all inclusive, don't let yourself be deceived!
Still, in conclusion, I want to say that I am satisfied with the rest, because the main thing on the sea is the sea, and not the hotel, the sea obscured all the negative aspects. Well, I was satisfied with 70% percent, but I won’t go to Kom again)
Oh, and I remembered again, when we stopped by, they asked the girl to give a number in the quietest place. Of course, she did just that. We could not sleep at night, because all sorts of athletes came to our hotel for competitions or training camps and clamored all night long right under our building. Many thanks to Theodora, thank you for "fulfilling" our wishes, although at that moment there were a lot of free rooms.
And about the animation I will add that it, as such, did not exist. In the evening, the children were entertained a couple of times with dancing, there was no water aerobics, there was no animation for teenagers. Once there was Bingo and once Guess who sings, it was interesting to listen and participate.

Better somewhere else.... rested in this hotel in August 2010 with two children older than 13 years younger than 3 years old. We ALWAYS went to the beach on foot because the free bus started its movement at 9.30, and by this time there are simply no places on the beach. There is sand mixed with cigarette butts on the beach (if the child is not small and the sand does not dig, cigarette butts are ALMOST invisible) Here to sea no questions!! ! Warm, clean, good entrance !! ! Now about food.

We would like to share our impressions about an amazing holiday in sunny Bulgaria. We rested with a one-year-old child at the end of August in Albena at the Compass hotel. The hotel is located at the top of the resort. But its location is in no way inferior in terms of convenience to hotels located on the coast. Away from the noise, immersed in greenery and filled with the smell of fragrant pine needles, this is a paradise for those who appreciate comfort, peace, and warmth. At the first acquaintance with the staff and infrastructure of the hotel, you understand that everything here is created for guests (including the smallest! ) and their convenience. And what kind of cuisine is here... It's just a dream of a gourmet and a sweet tooth. Real jam! The choice of dishes is amazing, and the taste is so unforgettable that you want to return to the restaurant again and again. The children were not spared, for them a special children's menu is prepared here. . For families vacationing in Compass with children, cribs are provided in the room (free of charge), a wonderful multi-level children's pool with many waterfalls and a water slide, for creative kids there is entertainment for coloring clay figures under the strict guidance of a smiling girl who knows a lot about communicating with children , and the resulting creation will give its warmth to your home for a long time upon return. And if you want to have fun and dance in the evening, then just go down the comfortable illuminated stairs located right behind the hotel pool (we managed to go down and up right with the baby stroller) and in 3-5 minutes you will plunge into a kaleidoscope of endless resort entertainment. On the main pedestrian street of Albena, everyone will find something to their liking: small shops with souvenirs, with products of Bulgarian crafts, and cozy open-air restaurants with live music and a varied menu from various countries, and children simply cannot be torn away from shops with amazing and be it living toys, you can also take retro photographs inspired by the motifs of the 18th-19th centuries here (you will not only be dressed in centuries-old toilets and made up, but they will also have a professional photo session, I assure you, there will be plenty to choose from! ). The service is at its best (there is something to compare with: we rested in Hungary) and the Bulgarian hospitality exceeded all expectations! . Here everything is thought out to the smallest detail, and you just have to enjoy your vacation and, without ceasing, catch yourself thinking that this is real happiness. We express our deep gratitude to all the staff of the Compass Hotel, which has fallen in love and has become a family for a while! General manager of the hotel, maids, restaurant staff, lifeguard in the pool - sincere, caring, hospitable people. It was they who, making each of their contributions, made our holiday so unforgettable! Low bow to the Bulgarian brothers!

More than 1.5 years have passed since I visited Bulgaria, of course, the impressions of the trip are not so fresh, but I will try to describe them in as much detail as possible. Maybe they will be useful to someone, but maybe not. I am not a very whimsical and spoiled person, besides this is my first trip abroad, I used to rest on our Black Sea coast, where we rented an apartment, and ate in a cafe or cooked ourselves.

We rested from 16 to 30 July 2010.
And then came the most interesting and exciting moment - the departure. Waiting for miracles, relaxation, sea, sun. We were taken to the airport by a bus, we left at 00:00 on July 16.2010. Departed from Domodedovo at 06:15. They took off without delay. The flight was 2 hours 15 minutes, flew with VimAvia. The difference between Moscow and Bulgarian time is 1 hour. They flew to Varna. In Moscow at that time the heat was already beginning, and in Varna there was grace + 25 C0. Baggage at the airport received very quickly. Customs control also went quickly.
We rested in Albena in the hotel "COM" 3*+. It is located on 3 lines, the distance to the sea is 950 meters, on foot 15-20 minutes, but free buses run to the sea every 30 minutes, as well as trains, but for a fee. I don’t know where the bus stop was and how much the train ride cost, since they never used it. We walked. It was a bit heavy way from the sea to the hotel, it turned out uphill. At first we went through the Flamingo and Compass hotels, and there we had to go up the stairs. But then they began to walk through the resort administration building, it turned out to be more convenient there, without steps and a slight rise.
Albena is a wonderful resort. Everything is immersed in greenery and the heat is easily tolerated. Everywhere clean and in the village and on the beach. The beach is sandy and wide. Sun loungers and umbrellas for free. The only thing I didn't like was that people took their places in the evening, putting towels on the sun loungers. There are many lifeguards on the shore who are very vigilantly watching the vacationers, which in my opinion is very good. The water in the sea was warm all day. I really don’t like jellyfish, and the sea pleased me, for all 15 days I didn’t come across a single one. On the last day of our stay, the water in the sea became cool and a lot of crabs and cuttlefish appeared at the bottom.
Our room was a standard double room with a large bed, a TV with 2 Russian channels, air conditioning, a wardrobe, a table, an armchair. The room is small but quite normal. There are two plastic chairs and a table on the balcony. The bathroom is small, there is no shower cabin, but just a place separated by a small tile and drain. The shower was separated from the toilet by a curtain. The toilet in our room was leaking from the bottom and it was not fixed until the end of our stay, although we talked about this at the reception twice, then they just calmed down and stopped spoiling their mood.
The hotel itself is compact. The pool is located in the center, next to it is a restaurant. The pool is filled with fresh chlorinated water, so the smell from it is appropriate. We rarely swam in it, in the main when we came from the sea for lunch and wanted to freshen up after the road (especially when we climbed the steps I wrote about above). The restaurant is divided into zones: inside the building itself, one part overlooks the pool and the other part overlooks the copse, and the street under a canopy overlooks the pool or in the shade from large trees. There are 2 bars on site. We were served on an all inclusive basis. Restaurant opening hours: Breakfast - 7.30-10.00, Lunch - 12.00-14.00, Dinner - 18.00-21.00. Between lunch and dinner, a barbecue is open near the pool, they offer pizza, fried sausages, meatballs and ice cream. Breakfasts are like everywhere bread, sausage, cheese, kefir, cottage cheese, muesli, sausages, fried sausages, ham, butter, scrambled eggs, scrambled eggs, boiled eggs, croissants with and without filling, fruits. From fruits in July: watermelons, melons ("Kolkhoz Woman"), apricots, peaches, apples, bananas. From the first courses (they were at lunch and dinner) there are usually two types and also their national cold soup - Tarator (this is kefir or yogurt with greens, fresh cucumber and garlic). I really liked it, it is especially good to eat it in hot weather, like our okroshka. The first courses are pureed soups. For the second: fried and boiled chicken, meatballs, fried fish (but always one kind), pork or chicken goulash, pork chop, once there was lasagna. Side dishes: boiled corn, Brussels sprouts, cauliflower, green peas, green beans, bell peppers in tomato (lecho), pasta, rice, mashed potatoes (but it feels like custard, tasteless) and fried potatoes. Of the sauces, mustard (but you can’t compare it with ours, they have it sweet and not spicy), mayonnaise (glass, probably starch is added) and ketchup. There were also olives, pickled cucumbers, salads, mostly vegetable. From alcoholic drinks: brandy, dry red and white wine, vermouth, champagne, draft beer. I really liked the champagne, it's a pity that I tried it on the last day. Juice diluted, powdered, apple seemed to me more natural. The restaurant had badly washed dishes: greasy plates, glasses with traces of lipstick and greasy hands. The waiters quickly cleared the dishes from the empty tables. The only thing I didn't like was that the Germans put a lot of glasses of beer on the table and sat very noisily for a long time. After reading a lot of reviews before the vacation, I was preparing for the fact that our compatriots are very cheeky and noisy. But in Bulgaria, I have not met a single drunken and noisy Russian. But the Germans behaved simply ugly. We lived in the hotel on the second floor, and below us were the Germans, so they allowed themselves to sing songs and neigh like horses at two or three in the morning. But it all probably depends on the person himself and nationality does not matter here.
In Bulgaria, the national currency is the lev, and instead of "kopecks" - stotinki. 1 lev = 100 stotinki. The exchange rate of the euro to the leva is stable 1 euro approximately 1.95 leva. 1 lev for our 20-21 rubles. The most favorable exchange rate in banks. We went to Varna and changed there. At hotels, they also exchange, but the exchange rate is unfavorable. So decide for yourself which is more convenient for you.
We did not go on excursions from travel agencies, but traveled on our own or by public transport or by taxi. The bus station is 20 minutes walk from the hotel. It is inconvenient that public transport operates until 19:00, it could have been longer. There are shops and souvenir shops in Albena, but the prices are high. We bought souvenirs in Varna and Balchik, it's cheaper there. In Varna, if you go from the stop towards the Drama Theatre, there is a souvenir market and a shop with reasonable prices nearby. The locals also told us that in the lane from the Central Cathedral you can walk to the market, it is small, but fruits and vegetables are very cheap. For example, peaches are 1-1.20 leva depending on the size.
In Balchik there is a Botanical Garden and a summer residence of the Queen of Romania, Mary of Edinburgh, built in 1930. The area of the botanical garden is about 35 hectares. It grows more than 3.000 species of plants, as well as an extensive collection of cacti - the second largest in the world, there are more than 250 species. The Botanical Garden is supervised by the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. Entrance to it costs 10 lev. There are a lot of roses in the park.
On the seashore in Balchik, near the botanical garden, there is a wonderful restaurant where you can eat fresh fish, mussels. The prices will pleasantly surprise you. The owner of the restaurant is a very friendly person.
We walked along the shore in the neighboring village of Kranevo. Between Albena and this village there is a nudist beach. I did not like the beach in Kranevo, the mountains moved closer to the sea and the edge of the coast is very small, people were located very close to each other. Garbage floated in the sea: plastic bags, apple cores, peach pits, cigarette butts, and more. We were on this beach in the evening and because of the mountains, the sun was hiding earlier than in Albena. On the way back, we took a taxi to get to the hotel. The taxi driver's name was George. And we began to tell him: "He's Gosha... ", and the taxi driver continued: "He's Goga, he's Georgy Ivanovich. " So in Bulgaria, too, our expressions are known. He told us that he organizes excursions and gave us a business card. So we decided to go to Nessebar. There is a very beautiful old part of the city. Nessebar is located on a small peninsula near Sunny Beach, the largest resort in Bulgaria. Nessebar is a city-museum, and since 1983 it has been included in the UNESCO list of world cultural heritage. On the streets of the city there are a myriad of souvenir shops, restaurants and cafes.
We also took a bus to the city of Dobrich, but unfortunately I didn’t really like it.
To sum it up in general, I liked the rest, despite all the little things.
