It seemed to me that newspapers were no longer popular in the 21st century. But not in Vienna. Here they are sold at every step, they are freely available in almost every institution. And most of all, we were struck by the boxes on the poles, where you can take a newspaper after throwing a coin. Everything works "on parole and trust".
All hot drinks at Christmas markets are served in beautiful themed cups instead of plastic cups. This creates an indescribable comfort and atmosphere. For a cup you pay a deposit (4 euros), and at any second you can return it or keep a cup as a keepsake.
Vienna is very clean and tidy, we rarely met emigrants of other nationalities. All the people around are as calm as possible, they are not in a hurry, they talk quietly, they don’t honk.
Let's return to the heading "on parole". All public transport works this way: without controllers and turnstiles. I bought a ticket in the machine - and freely entered the transport. The main thing is to keep track of when your ticket expires. We have never caught a check, but they say that "bunnies" are decently fined.
