This time I visited the Fiss resort in Austria. It is next to Serfaus (3 km). I will say that the resort is little known to Russian tourists and this has its pros and cons. In general, I would call rest in such a resort as ECO-tourism. It's like living in Vorokhta or Tatariv or Mykulychi in the Ukrainian Carpathians.

All your own: milk, poultry, meat, cheese, sausage. . . This is a definite plus. And, of course, the clean air of the Alps. Of the minuses, this is the fact that after all, all hotels (more of course, not a hotel, but a "yard" (hof) have their own barn, where all these cows, hens, baby pigs, etc. live. Upon arrival at the Poltenhof hotel, this immediately became clear. And although the smell was not always felt right away, it was still felt, and sometimes even VERY (10 cows). There is one fairly large supermarket for the entire resort (which could be bypassed in half an hour) with everything you need. As you understand, if you can walk around the resort in half an hour, then there is nothing to do there in the evenings. On the third day, you get tired of walking back and forth. Saved by the presence of a sauna in Poltenhof and found one night bar (it is located in the center of the resort).
The food at the hotel, as elsewhere, is consistently the same. The advantage was that in Poltenhof everything is homemade, environmentally friendly - and this deserved praise. Although the service is almost imperceptible, both in the rooms and at breakfast. At breakfast, although each table is assigned to tourists, in the morning it was not always possible to find cutlery and napkins at your table (you had to take it from the next one, and the neighbors from the next one)).
Cons of the hotel - the lack of lunches and dinners. They booked an apartment for us, the room is larger, spacious, has a kitchen with everything you need. If you want to cook on vacation, you can easily do it. We are on vacation, so we have never used the kitchen (why we overpaid money for the "Apartment" room is not clear). I advise you to take a regular standard room.
Another important nuance of the resort is a resort for families, especially for children. The most comfortable conditions have been made for children, both for skiing and for recreation in general: many playgrounds, ski schools for children, a kindergarten and children's rooms.
For us, a young couple with a good level of skiing, there were some difficulties due to the constant fear of running into a child, so we climbed to the very tops of the mountains and rode along short and steep slopes.
If there are children, we will definitely take them to this resort to teach them how to ski. In the meantime, this resort is not for us, there are already a lot of children and beginner skiers.
The neighboring resort of Serfaus is larger than Fiss, with a richer infrastructure, number of restaurants, shops, etc.
There weren’t even souvenir shops in Fiss, there was one - and that one, “hand-may”: felt boots and soap) I had to go to Serfaus on the last day of rest for souvenirs (it was possible to get there by bus that runs on schedule (I don’t advise dachshunds - expensive: one way asked 25 euros, a bus for two one way 5.20 euros)
The minus of the Serfaus resort is that the shops there close at 5-6 pm, and after skiing (if you have the strength of course) there is nothing to go look at).
The minus of Fiss is that in many restaurants there is not even an English menu, not to mention Russian. About the menu with pictures, I generally keep quiet.
Plus, of course, the Austrians are their people! Positive, friendly and smiling. This cannot but rejoice! And, of course, the mountains - the Alps! They are extraordinary!
