It was the case - rested in Kaprun.
I want to share my experience. Rested family in 2009 in Austria in Kaprun. We chose for a long time based on reviews and stories on the Internet. Since we went to Austria for the first time and not for a long time, the decisive argument was that there are two ski areas here: on the Kitsteinhorn glacier (3200m) near Kaprun and on Mount Schmittenhö he (2000m) near Ziel am See. And they didn't fail!! ! Ride from 8 to 13 February. Absolutely comfortable conditions for skiing (sun, heat) were only two days. And we skated them with great pleasure to the maximum on the Kitsteinhorn. Two more days there, and two days in Zil am See. And the choice went like this. In the morning we watch a broadcast from the skiing places on TV (5-6 webcams) - if there is heavy snow on the glacier, wind, frost (up to -17 degrees), then we went to Zilam See. Kaprun is reminiscent of Dombai: a huge slope-bed 3-4 times larger than Dombai with countless lifts and ski lifts, wide trails and skiing fields for every taste - expanse for both freeriders and dummies. Zilam See is reminiscent of Krasnaya Polyana – trails in the forest. But there is some difference. There is only one track in Krasnaya Polyana (it seems they have launched another one? ), and there are 14 of them (or more? ). Trails for every taste. I highly recommend the local black slopes: beautiful, interesting, intense, but quite passable. Telling how good it is or better than ours is not a thankful task. It's the same as telling a person who has always traveled by train how good it is to ride in a sleeping car. We lived in Kaprun in the "Haus Troll" (Haus Tirol). I recommend. A very decent house, very sincere hosts - Alice and Hilbert Kok (Dutch, chatting in German and English). 90 euros / day for three people with breakfast. Bus stop 20 meters away. And yet, if you have the opportunity to drive your own car, do not be afraid to go. The cars are now comfortable, the roads are good - you don’t get very tired, and if two people are driving... This saves a lot of money. We flew to Prague, where we had to rent a car at the airport. There are few cars to choose from, the prices are extortionate.
