Ukrainian diaspora in Argentina
Finally, as planned, we had a meeting with representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora, members of the Renaissance society.
The meeting was in a very narrow circle, because we arrived in Argentina just during the holidays (can you imagine, they have December - this is our June, January - our July, and February - our August! ), Therefore, most of the representatives of society, along with family were on vacation.
Traditionally, Argentines (including those of Ukrainian origin) have a rest in Brazil, Uruguay and Paraguay, because the ocean is warmer there. But back to the meeting.
The premises of the society are huge, but it is clear that they knew the times better (some of the premises are not used now), but the concert hall is still working, where Ukrainian evenings are held, a large library of works by Ukrainian authors and works in the Ukrainian language has been collected (we were shown editions Ukrainian newspapers "Nash Klich" and "Fracture", issued in 1913.1911, in the photo - the assembly of 1942 - oh how! ).
On the wall is a magnificent map of Ukraine, created at the beginning of the last century by an emigrant from Ukraine - where, (pay attention! ) Not only Crimea is part of Ukraine, but also the Rostov region and Taganrog (Just a minute! ).
Map - many decades !!!!! ! (When did the party members of the USSR rewrite our history? )
Then there was a tour of the society, a small garden and a huge patio.
And of course, where without a traditional feast! They talked for a long time, about different things, but, of course, they were most interested in how the economic and political situation is now building up in Ukraine, from the point of view of us Ukrainians.
Well, of course, we were more interested in how Ukrainians live in Argentina, how they preserve their culture, what worries and inspires them the most.
But this, of course, should be written in a separate article.
We parted with the understanding that there is too little time to discuss all topics and to understand at least the general picture of the life of us "Ukrainians" - there, and them - here.
The main thing that we understood for ourselves is that the Ukrainians who now live in Ukraine do not even understand how great it is to live in their own country, on their own land!
When you communicate with people of the same mentality, you do not need to adapt and break yourself in order to survive in a culture alien to you. It is very difficult for them, for Ukrainians who live abroad.
They create a piece of Ukraine in the country into which life has thrown them, sometimes they create it with great effort and expense. And we are those who have Ukraine just at hand (just look out the window) and do not appreciate it, we are rushing to other countries.
Love Ukraine!
