the main attractions were closed due to covid and only on the spot we were dumbfounded that we would not visit the Teotihuacan and Volcanoes declared in the program, museums are closed
“Mysterious temples of Palenque” - did not get through the negligence of the organizers, there were restrictions on the number of people to visit due to covid. The bus of tourists who left our hotel at 7 am knew about this, but our guide found out about it only with us on the spot.
“operational” replacements on the tour, which Hakuna Matata emphasizes so much on his FB page, were made very squeaky, and from the very urgent requests of the group (when our indignation knew no bounds)
excursions to cities that are not affected by Mexico's covid policy in any way were not carried out! at least three of them weren't on our tour. the quality of the rest is frankly doubtful
one day our guide simply said that he was tired and he needed to rest instead of the planned excursion. And to the city? no, he won't - and in the evening we met him at the bar!
at the same time, Hakuna Matata’s “prompt” reaction to the failure to fulfill its obligations ... silence
every day for 5-6 hours, often hard serpentine (and this is not warned when buying a tour)
transport - an uncomfortable ordinary minibus, not designed for such long journeys (non-reclining seats, catastrophically little legroom)
there are days when you arrive in the evening and in the morning - again a long journey. the interior of the minibus is sometimes the strongest and only impression of the day
the group's requests to at least turn on the music on the road were ignored
show the cartoon we downloaded - also something does not work there
sanitary stops are not thought out - more precisely, they are optional for the driver and guide, but your desires ... well, at a very urgent request
guide's first aid kit
a couple of pills bought a week later on the tour itself
1. not long before departure, they asked to pay extra for hotels (i.e., the price of the tour is not final and you can find out about this when you are literally with your bags packed)
2. despite promises and reservations, hotels changed, it seems that they book from today to tomorrow, because of this there are often no places for a group, and the reservations that are sent to you at the very last moment are just pieces of paper
3. breakfasts - we stumbled on flat ground, sometimes paid, sometimes not, and our guide, despite all the problems that arose, always came later than everyone else
the promised tour leader didn't go
and for the umpteenth time a “surprise” just before the flight!
Moreover, for some guys, for whom the tour leader was an important point in choosing a tour, they frankly lied to the last that there would be a tour leader.
"Riviera Maya"
as the program writes: “Taking a break from the hustle and bustle and immersing ourselves in a relaxing holiday on the best beaches….” sounds sweet ... but in reality:
- another fakap with a hotel - it is far from the first line of beaches (and according to Hakuna, there are no hotels on the first line at all! ????) We went, saw, there are a lot of them!
- the public beach was more than 1 km from the hotel
- sea with endless storm! as it turned out, in Cancun, there are two types of beaches: with and without waves! Guess which side Hakuna Matata settled us on? and, of course, the group learned about the beaches itself upon arrival ...
In general, it turned out to be distracted - to relax - no! :(
Oh, and the icing on the cake:
despite the assurances of the organizers of Hakuna about the support of their customers, any difficulties in air travel fall on the shoulders of the travelers themselves
you will need a PCR test - it's your concern to find a laboratory, sign up, even if you don't speak Spanish, change your ticket back, book an extra. a night in a hotel is no longer their concern, the tour is over, and they have “many other travelers” (as they told us in the chat)
In general, very unexpectedly, everything turned out badly, and, judging by the group correspondence, they are not going to change anything. All efforts are aimed not at studying and eliminating shortcomings, but at searching for the next victim-tourists, as evidenced by remote
reviews in which tourists talked about how it was real. Here it is, the true price of their “impeccable” reputation!
