Having visited Egypt for the first time (Sharm El Sheikh) - the impression of the rest is only positive, if not for the guides from the anex.
From Donetsk we were sent normally, we were met in Sharm also not bad. The guide did not see off at the reception - but showed where to go and, in principle, was polite. Blue sky bus, normal.
The next day, a meeting was scheduled with the hotel guide, for which it was recommended to be sure to appear. We came, for some reason the guide (Izmail - Ismail) communicated with tourists individually (like he gave out some kind of secret), so we had to wait another 20-30 minutes. immediately bought it - that we were in Egypt for the first time, and then Ostap suffered.
Advised Cairo by bus ($90), mega safari ($75) and Ras Mohammed ($60) - per person
we were counting on more affordable prices ... he gave the price and kind of check it out, he didn’t insist on it. in the evening we rummaged through the shops and came across the local tour desk "Gena and Cheburashka". The prices in it were for similar excursions about 2 times cheaper. But we were embarrassed by the fact that not from a tour operator - it seems to be more reliable to go from a tour operator. we decided not to take risks and came to knock out a discount from Ishmael - to which he answered us that please - buy on the street - then no one answers for you, that if you don’t want problems, then it’s not worth the risk and seems to be unobtrusive - but he convinced me. at the same time, he said that a completely different service is provided for $ 90 - not the one for $ 45 ... It’s hard to imagine a worse excursion:
1. According to the price, the tour starts at 1.10 am, ends at 23.00. We were picked up from the hotel at 1.10 and brought to the parking lot at the exit of their Sharma at 1.25 The bus that brought us to Cairo arrived at 2.30 .... it was the first wake-up call.
2. The bus in which we spent more than a day as a result arrived almost completely packed with people, in the end we got rear seats that do not recline. that is, we almost did not close our eyes for an 8-hour trip to Cairo, it is not possible to sleep in this position. (IMHO, for such long excursions, the rear seats should be used for a maximum of two people, so that they can at least lie down - or not used at all.
3. we came across a very enterprising guide Terek - who tried to make money literally on everything, from a cafe where tea was sold at exorbitant prices, for 15 le, instead of 5. but this is not the worst thing.
In Cairo, we visited the museum, and when we were exhausted and wanted to have lunch, we were taken to the so-called oil factory, where oils are sold three times more expensive than even near our hotel in Nabq Bay. And also a papyrus factory, a jewelry store, a knitwear store and souvenirs, a fruit shop for which they made a big detour along the highway in order to buy mangoes ... and all this is voluntary-compulsory.
and the Pyramids and the Sphinx themselves - we were allotted as much as 50 minutes for them! and this despite the fact that in each store we were at least 30-40 minutes, even despite the fact that most of the tourists were already on the bus.
Our enterprising Terek during the trip did not get tired of selling tea and halva, cartouche, and other crap. I basically did not buy anything - because I know the approximate prices for all this.
The crown of our excursion to Cairo - around 11 am we arrived at the same cafe - it’s not clear why, since the tourists didn’t drink there, but the Terek itself, two drivers, a security guard - sat there drinking - eating ... with such faces - they see that the whole bus is waiting for them, that everyone is tired - they want to sleep in bed as soon as possible ... they didn’t even speed up - until they ate everything - they didn’t get up.
we eventually arrived at the hotel at 4.30, tired as dogs and angry. in addition, at the exit from the bus, Terek announced that there is such an Egyptian tradition to thank the driver with a tip, supposedly they live on them! and said: "a little, 3-4 dollars, as much as you can!" I was so furious with their impudence, well, just a rip-off!
Bottom line: they paid 2 times more than they could, and the service - yes, let them leave me on the pyramids for the whole day, and take them in the evening, I don’t need imposed shopping at inflated prices ... well, do they really think that we are - stupid sheep that can be led on a leash and make us do what is beneficial to THEM ......
My advice - do not buy excursions from the tour operator Anex tour, pay more, and do not expect service. They immediately see dairy cows and cut cabbage.
Our Ishmael did not bother to visit our hotel and post the time of departure from the hotel to the airport. we ourselves looked for him and found out the time.
We went to Cairo on 09/25/2012, bus number
