3 months after the trip, I decided to write a review. If I had written right away, I would have written more, and so much has been erased from memory, and emotions subsided ..
We have long wanted to visit Georgia, and then such a great opportunity turned up, the tour bribed me with its cheapness and the reviews of a friend ...
I'll start in order:
We left on Friday at 3:00 pm. The road is very long, it is difficult and uncomfortable to sit (with my height of 1.56 cm, I don’t know how the others coped). As we were promised, a bus with berths, everything looks great on the video, but in practice ... at 10 pm there is a technical stop, everyone gets out and seats are laid out, all this time we stood on the street, it was very cold and walked rain. The escorts didn't care. After 1.5 hours, they began to let us into the bus, supposedly put us in our places, but we did not understand the logic. Those who lay on the "upper" shelf were more fortunate, they could stretch their legs completely, but those who were on the bottom lay in the fetal position ... We were also "lucky" with a neighbor in the "bed", it was an 80-year-old grandmother ( I think details about hygiene, etc. would be redundant), who recently suffered a heart attack. Kaaaaaak ??? how could they take her on a bus tour with a two-day trip without an escort ??? unknown. There were technical stops, you know what the conditions were, but we were mentally prepared for this. Of course, I recommend that the faint of heart think about whether they are ready for such conditions, or rather, their absence). Tea and coffee were given along the way, rarely, without enthusiasm, but still they gave. In general, we constantly distracted the escorts and they really did not want to fulfill our requests. The escorts were called Misha and Olya. I read very positive reviews about Misha, in the end they were disappointed. The impression was created that they should not do anything at all, but go the same way as everyone else. Oh no, I forgot, they were supposed to collect money for additional excursions.
Arrived in Georgia on Sunday afternoon. We stayed at the Doesi Hotel as promised. The hotel is excellent, the staff is attentive, the breakfasts are decent, varied, tasty, and there is a lot of everything. I recommend! But this is the merit of the owner of the hotel, not Kote.
In the evening, sightseeing tour of Tbilisi and wine and chacha tasting. The tasting passed with a bang, the wines are good, you can find it for any budget.
The excursion to Mtskheta was not particularly noted, except for the fact that we were promised to be shown where to buy real churchkhella and spices, in which our guide is sure. Prices there are 4 times higher, you can buy the same thing on the market, much cheaper, and the choice is richer. But Kote likes to advertise: buy here and nowhere else. If you don't buy, they look askance.
Additional excursions included the so-called "Supra" - a traditional Georgian feast (cost $ 35), where we were promised that the table would break, we would try 99% of national dishes, etc., dances, songs. We hesitated for a long time whether to go or not, but nevertheless decided that we needed to!
The only thing that was great was the dancing and the songs!
We arrived at the restaurant around 20-00, we were warned in advance that the bus would leave at 00-00, if we want to stay longer, we will have to get to the hotel on our own.
The entertainment program began at 22-00, before that they stupidly sat and ate. We hoped that they would tell us something about the kitchen, about the dishes, how to eat them correctly, but no. If not for the driver (Petrovich), who tried his best to save the situation and said toasts, the feast would have been complete rotten stuff.
There were not enough full portions for everyone, pkhali had to be divided, 2 servings of salad for 6 people, barbecue, khachapuri, pita bread, juice and 2 decanters of wine. No satsivi, kupaty ..)))
Since the beginning of the program has become more fun! The dances were great, the songs too. But the program lasted exactly an hour. It’s not clear what to do next, Mikhail didn’t react to the general request to go, he stuffed his already plump cheeks with food))) we left exactly on schedule (this was probably the only such case). The food that still remained was collected for DRIVERS !!!!!
As a result, the impressions of the evening were not very good, especially after learning from the women from our group who refused to go with Kote, and went on their own, spent 20 GEL each (that's about 200 UAH !!!!), and their table was much richer ours.
At the beginning of our journey, we were warned that the routes could be adjusted at the request of the group. The whole group refused the excursion to Gori (additional). no one (even people of retirement age) had a desire to visit the Stalin Museum, no one was bored. In addition to two 30-year-old girls, and because of them, we nevertheless went to this museum, spending precious time while they were like there, i.e. 50 people against 2 meant nothing to the escorts.
Next, we had a transfer to Kazbegi, a night at the hotel, a morning ascent to Gergeti and departure home. It was possible to climb Gergeti on foot or in jeeps for $10 (which had to be handed over to Mikhail first). After we screwed up with dinner, we decided to take the $10 per person and rent a jeep on our own. It turned out to be more than simple and cost 60 GEL, i.e. about 600 UAH. or $25 PER CAR (it can fit 6 people). Misha was very upset (it is clear why) and for a long time did not want to give us the money, he avoided us in every possible way, although we warned him in advance.
Checking into a hotel in the village of Kazbegi is a different story. We were promised the Kazbegi hotel, I looked at the photo of this hotel on the Internet in advance, and was impressed by the gorgeous view, and the hotel itself too! I went there with anticipation of the view from the window, which I will take pictures in the morning))) and what was our disappointment when we were settled in a HOSTEL either by geologists or archaeologists, which was opened especially for us, because. April is not yet the season for them, the heating in the rooms was turned on only with us, as they began to heat the water. As it turned out later, our beloved Kote agreed on an overnight stay at the last moment, and the director of this hostel did everything possible, of course there are no complaints against him ... with food in this village is tight, you have to go to the city for them. In the local store you can only buy lavash (hot, only from the oven!).
In the morning, after climbing the mountain and having breakfast, we began our painful (and we already knew for sure what to expect from kote) journey to Ukraine. Along the way, we lost a lot of time because of the stops that the escorts needed in supermarkets, markets ... where they frankly packed for themselves and their friends: they took lemonades, all sorts of sauces, seasonings, fruits in boxes), although we were told a clear amount of liquid for person, and put it all in a separate trunk with a refrigerator (as we were told, this is the trunk of the drivers and we can’t put anything there).
Perhaps I missed a lot of things, but the main thing: I DO NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE to go with Kote! Not for any money! It's just frayed nerves.
And the impressions of the country still remained wonderful, thanks to the hospitality of the Georgian people, I want to return there again and again, but not with this travel agency ...
P.S. fully agree with zaoark's review)
